Will Smith Slaps Chris Rock At Oscars

I'm over people using love as an excuse for violence ... his manners and speech exactly showed why that country is so divided. People are so quick to chose hatred and violence nowadays before actually thinking what causes more damage and I'm tired.

Two things can be true at once.

1. Chris Rock deserved it.

2. Will Smith should be charged with assault.

However, if they were all mature adults none of this would have happened in the first place.

What example does this set for our children? That they should solve their problems with violence? The toxic masculinity is appalling.

AND it infuriates me that his actions are now going to overshadow the winning moments for other nominees and especially for overshadowing important moments like Jessica Chastain’s speech on LGBTQ rights.

you don’t deal with struggles like that with physical violence but ok

i can’t believe there’s so many people defending will here. humans really are just scum

Yes humans are scum evidently if we don't know when to end a touchy joke.

Do you know how many people have gotten suicidal thoughts from public humiliation like this??

Again. just because you can take  dumb jokes to your person and the people you love don't mean everyone else can

If it was a female comedian, it wouldn't be as bad. Still bad but not so bad. But it was a straight male comedian coming for his wife's looks. Y'all are crazy if you do not see the context and the years of mysoginistic comments hiding behind that.

It was't "just a joke" especially when you can see how bothered Jada is about it.

It wasn't a joke about a nagging wife or an argument people have at home. It was literally coming for her looks. Completely in bad taste. Jokes like that aren't even funny. What's the punch line? Jada is bald. People are supposed to laugh at her because she is  bald.

I think this was staged. Will is smirking after the slap. Desperate ploy for awards shows to remain relevant in 2022!

just because someone says a sh!tty joke doesn’t mean you should assault them. every time someone says something rude to you that’s out of your control you’re just going to deck them in the face? probably not.

As I said before, never EVER would Will Smith overshadow his own biggest moment of his career for a PR Stunt. Also his publicist came see him during the commercial break. There is a video posted in here

IF this isn't staged, then Will Smith just assaulted a man on live television. That's a crime, and he should be charged with assault. No free pass because of a touchy joke-- Smith made a peaceful situation violent all on his own (Rock never goaded him with "fighting words" or anything of the sort)

Assault is never an option. Especially not in this situation. I understand the joke may have hurt his wife but he was laughing at it before doing what he did so I think this is performative and not something that truly hurt him. And I despise the fact that he said people do stupid things when they love someone.. Sure they do but that does not include hitting someone because of some random stupid joke.

His publicist coming over proves nothing. There's no audio: Could have been discussing how all went to plan and Twitter is loving it

Some situations can push you over the edge. Will and his family have taken public humiliation for about 2years and Chris took a cheap shot.

I'm not one to endorse violence like this but I certainly hate that it's somehow okay to hurt peoples feelings in the name of comedy. Isn't this a form of body shaming ????

This x1000!

There were extremely good speeches and extremely moving and important moments and all the press will write about tomorrow is Will Smith ruining the biggest moment in his career
