Nycboy 972
With the Oscar’s coming up I was thinking about the House of Gucci snub. Although it still hurts and I would have loved to see Gaga strut down the red carpet as a NOMINEE, I do think there’s a real silver lining, which is that Gaga will not suffer from overexposure and media hate. Unfortunately in our society I feel like the GP and critics like to “tear down” women for achieving “too much” success or for chasing accolades. It’s kind of like what happened to Anne Hathaway when everyone thought her Oscar’s campaign was cringe and people started to hate on her for trying so hard. Look at how people used to love JLaw when she first started and then all of a sudden started hating her simply bc she was everywhere and was winning awards. I think that had Gaga scored 2 noms for her only 2 acting roles in such a short span of time, it sadly could have rubbed the GP (and the industry as a whole) the wrong way. People usually don’t relate to celebrities when they come off as “lucky.” It’s evident that Gaga’s press tour for HOG alone started to rub the media the wrong way, since some of those headlines were borderline making fun of her. The conversations dissecting her accent in the movie or how she behaved on set signaled to me an underlying shifting tone in how she is being treated in the media. Since Gaga likely wouldn’t have won anyway, I think she might have walked away from the situation in a slightly negative light. It’s better to be the actress who everyone considers to be “snubbed” than the actress who does get nominated but is then branded as “undeserving.” Next time around, people will remember that Gaga is due for recognition. thoughts? Rahrahbitchson 17,588
Good points, makes sense. Specially for the examples of Jlaw and Hathaway which is true. I think is better that way, her time will come Quizás bastaba respirar, sólo respirar, muy lento...💙
Cameltoe Chariot 14,522
This is one of the best takes on Gaga's oscar snub, to be honest I completely agree - I have no doubt in my mind she'll win one in her lifetime, but when she does get it I want it to be a celebration of her work and not something fans have to defend because other people start getting annoyed by her success. The Anne Hathaway comparison is SO spot on, and now I'm actually relieved Gagz didn't get the nom
artlover 94
I really think we should've already moved on from this debacle. I don't think her portrayal was Oscar-worthy and so did many people, including the Academy. That's life. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Gaga herself has taught us that. This isn't the end of the world she wasn't nominated for an Oscar. There might be other opportunities. God forbid she goes back to studio and make bops for us and forgets Chromatica once and for all
androiduser 7,438
Gaga, or any other celebrity for that matter, is not entitled to awards.
