Bambino 24,321 Posted March 6, 2022 Share Posted March 6, 2022 Irish lawmaker Richard Boyd Barrett has made an impassioned speech calling out what he saw as “double standards” of the Irish government for imposing sanctions on Russia for its actions in Ukraine but not doing the same for Israel with regards to its actions in Palestine. Barrett sits in the Irish parliament for the left-wing People Before Profit party. “You’re happy to correctly use the most strong and robust language to describe the crimes against humanity of Vladimir Putin but you will not use the same strength of language when it comes to describing Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians,” he told the parliament on Wednesday. dit 46,738 Posted March 6, 2022 Share Posted March 6, 2022 it's true tbh. Israel's actions only get verbal condemnation. Sanctions need to be put in place as well to apply pressure. Additionally, verbal condemnation without any action actually only stokes anti semetic hatred towards Jewish people as well. We constantly hear about Israel's evil behavior but nothing is done to help it change its ways. More action, less words can be a win win for both sides. It will help Israel comply to standards and this will lead to less verbal condemnation of the only Jewish state which will limit some of the racists who hijack the Palestinian cause to hate on Israelis and Jews for no reason.
