I get what you mean, but I think we’ve rarely been on the brink of such a global conflict in our lifetime. If there’s a moment to put non-vital societal issues on the back burner, it’s now. Also, we all know the Israelo-Palestinian issue isn’t getting fixed any time soon…

She is 100 percent right, people only care about suffering when it is white people who are being affected. Just like people are speaking out against russia for what they are doing to ukraine also keep that same energy for what israel is doing to palestine and what america did to iraq/afghanistan

Non-vital to white Westerners* because I'm damn sure it's very vital to people who are literally being murdered and colonized on the daily. The fact that ethnic cleansing and genocide (nevermind Israel's threats to the region as a whole) are considered non-vital just because they don't affect Europe or the US (who benefit from and support them) is very telling of the current problem lol.

By « non-vital societal issues », I was actually referring to the gay marriage point, so get off your high horse.

About Palestine, it’s been a mess for nearly a century, we all know this is not getting a resolution anytime soon. Nobody’s saying this isn’t tragic and important.

About Palestine, it’s been a mess for nearly a century, we all know this is not getting a resolution anytime soon. Nobody’s saying this isn’t tragic and important.

My bad about the first part, the second part still makes no sense because ignoring it only makes it worse, especially when it has been this way for nearly a century because no one gives a flying f*ck about Palestinian lives. And it's mostly ignored because, once again, it doesn't affect Western societies as much and they profit from it.

Yes you’re probably right. But at some point, Israel and Palestine need to get their **** together. No other country can do it for them. I’m not going to get into this debate here though, but that’s my 2 cents. Hopefully the conflict with Ukraine is recent enough for us to prevent it from spreading by acting fast, that’s all I’m saying.

I’m confused though. When the Isreal/Palestine conflict happened last summer it was non stop media coverage and everyone was talking about it. Same with Afghanistan. Same with the Syrian war and West accepted millions of refugees. I don’t really see how ppl can say that Ukraine is the first war ppl care about just because it’s white ppl. Let’s not forget that Russia is far more powerful and likely to start nuclear war/ww3 than any of those other countries mentioned.
The only hypocrisy I see is the silence of china’s genocide but that’s because everyone is scared to call out China.

Although, I don't agree with your remark on China. The sad thing is that it has been happening for so long that it isn't featured in news broadcasts on a daily basis. Every now and then there is media coverage.

Honestly it's more about Israel stopping the expansion than about both talking it out. You can't hope for much of a path to peace as long as Israel refuse to let even a tiny bit of land to Palestinians sadly.

And Israel does so without gaf cause they know the USA back them up with vetos, public support, military help etc so basically no other countries dare to push them too hard on it and know any resolution will be vetoed anyway.

I think it’s more the deflection from what’s currently happening as a means to put focus on it. I care about both issues. I agree with the China hypocrisy too.
