Maluma launches fragrance and says he supports the LGBTQ+ community

ALLURE: What made you decide to jump into the fragrance market?
Maluma: I wanted to give to everyone and all my fans a little piece of my taste. The whole process was beautiful. I chose the way they smell with the whole team. We were in a lot of different meetings — it was kind of hard because I'm picky. But we got it, and for me, it's one of the best fragrances that I ever smelled in my life. It was a dream that I wanted to come true.

ALLURE: Why did you name your fragrance brand Royalty?
Maluma: I created a company like five or six years ago right here in Medellín because I felt I wanted to develop different types of businesses. One of them was fragrance of course, and I wanted to call it Royalty because that's how I feel. My world is like a royalty thing. Also, I got this crown [tattoo] on my neck when I was 21 years old [which of course represents] royalty, but also love the people in my hometown Medellín gave me. I feel like the fragrance is a way to give other people the power to [like they rule over their own kingdom].

ALLURE: Because you've collaborated with powerful women (Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna), you have a big fanbase in the LGBTQ+ community. Do you have a message for your queer fans?

Maluma: It's amazing! I support them. Now that we're doing the fragrances, I was thinking about the LGBTQ+ community too. Something pretty special about these fragrances that we're launching is that they're gender fluid. If you're a guy and you want to wear the women's fragrances, you're going to smell amazing. And if you're a woman and you want to wear the men's fragrances, you're going to kill it too. I love inclusion in every genre. If you go to my concerts, you see a lot of people from the LGBTQ+ community screaming my name, screaming the songs, and singing super loud. I feel proud that in some way they feel [connected to me]. I feel blessed and that's something epic because it's a big community.

 

ALLURE:What can we expect from you next?
M: We're super excited because we're partnering with Macy's to do my first global clothing line. That's another dream. We're still expanding in every way that we can make it. I'm planning on releasing a lot of music, too. Last year, I spent almost a month and a half at music camp creating my new album with different producers, engineers, and composers. I already have like, 60 songs that were recorded last year. We're planning huge things. Huge surprises. I want to bring people from everywhere in the world to check out the concert.

Um, those bottles remind me of The Fame perfume. 

I like it. 

He does support LGBTQ+. When "Marry Me," came out him and JLo were witnesses to 4 couples getting married one was a gay couple and he seemed genuinely excited.
