It seems to me he's also criticizing the whole vibe of the movie for not looking like actual westerns. The gay argument is stupid but the rest I can hear, he's saying that she did not know enough about the cow-boy/western culture enough to do this.

Also I think it's too bad that they're talking so much about the gay themes in the movie, that's a spoiler to me, this is actually what makes the movie interesting since you don't know he's gay until the middle of the movie.

Sam Elliot, Andrew Dice Clay, Dave Chappelle. The supporting cast of ASIB is a mess. I loved that movie (and still do) but seriously if the cast had more female characters this wouldn’t be a problem. The movie barely passed the Bechdel Test.
