Honestly it's not even really positive for the poc folks getting these roles. It's like "the only way we give you big roles is to let you have a part of a franchise's long history".

Meanwhile they still struggle to create fresh/ exciting projects for them really MADE for them instead of "left" to them nearly all the new super heros that will know their peak soon and become this generation's icons are given to white actors.

Really a fake egality like when they add a minor pic character and give the good roles to the white ones imo.

I'll never understand why Hollywood and celebrities insist on changing established characters people have known for DECADES just to accommodate modern "woke and inclusive" trends...

If you really want to make an impact...don't change what's already existed...make something brand new and create your own legacy...is that too much to ask?

Studios have been all out remakes lately so yes it is :laughga:

I don’t see how whiteness is an integral part of the Batman or James Bond characters. They could totally change the race/ethnicity of these characters and it wouldn’t have to impact the character’s backstory, personality, or abilities.

I also think that POC should be offered new and exciting roles and not just roles previously made iconic by white people. I think the industry could improve by doing both.

Everyone is talking about race, meanwhile I'm wondering, isn't James Bond supposed to be British? In terms of consistency, can someone even work for the secret services of a country if they're not from there?

I agree but for Bond and Batman you can change the race it doesn't matter

This. Race isnt fundamental to the character therefore making a black, latino or brown etc batman is not of any relevant consequence, it doesnt matter @TimisaMonster

Now that movie that made a Black Queen Elisabeth (or Victoria? I cant remember)... Something like that that to me is a lot more odd and in contexts like that i agree

break one "stereotype" to replace it by another? as a latin american that's what he is, the embodiment of the stereotypical latino, and anyway, i'm all about representation of course, but it makes me laugh that he is entitled to play this roles just because he's latino, he should be focus first on studying and improving the craft because he has no relation with acting at all.

So when I was little, some cringy pretend games me and my cousins/ friends played all the time was either Batman or Vampires and Werewolves.

Except I could never be batman because batman wasn't brown and I could never be a vampire because vampire where pale white.

Often times speaking about representation, the saying "you can't dream it if you can't see it" pops up.

For that reason, seeing a brown batman would be lovely. And it WOULD be helpful representation.

You're right about that; my mistake for mixing up race vs. ethnicity.

With that said, I still believe it would be nice to have more than just a cis hetero Caucasian American batman as long as we're getting a new movie about him every 2 or 3 years 🥲
