Sepsami 20,968
Okey why? Are they also requiered to tell parents if they know their kid is sexually active, smokes, does anything remotely adult? What the f*ck is the reasoning behind this? Guest
sexuality, gender, religion has no place at school. At school it's about learning, it's not about your identity, no one should talk about it or mention it or get involved in it. You're a teacher, you're a school you teach, you educate, the rest is none of ur bizz
huttont 6,007
Maybe I’m misunderstanding the headline I read, but I heard that the amendment (that would make it mandatory to tell parents) was removed today. So is this not a good thing? https://www.clickorlando.com/news/local/2022/02/21/amendment-in-florida-bill-encourages-schools-to-out-lgbtq-students-to-parents/?outputType=amp&fbclid=IwAR3QgLZzZDDtsytP8hEfGDPoFYktkQoDbZ3kTxf4U7UaB7NzJGONPi6mhqc

SpadesToStart 3,808
Also how is this not massive government overreach? Conservatives are beyond hypocritical. It begs the question, how do you even reason with people like that?

nickkoko 922
First of all, disgusting. Second, is it common for students to come out to their teachers before their parents? Because how would they know the sexual orientation of their students?
Plastic Flower 5,586
WTF I feel so sad for these LGBTQ+ kids. They deserve better than this. Drop it
SharkmanthaC 115,045
This is awful. I've talked to our school counselor about this before and she is very against it (and she's super conservative). This is a slippery slope where students won't have adults they can confide in. This just makes me so sick. I love my job, but the climate of education right now makes me want to consider a new career. she/her/hers

RudraCNG 15,506
I'm sorry but how can this be legal? Legit question, America's always claiming to be the "land of freedom" and allows this type of scheisse?
