I meant that the concept and elements of Gaga’s approach (like her accent) had camp potential to them lol the problem is I don’t think Ridley Scott really saw it there so it wasn’t executed on.

believe you me, its lack of camp was not my problem or disappointment lol it was moreso that it SHOULD have been more camp than they executed it as. Yes, they took a serious dramatic approach to a story that, as written and produced, didnt really lend itself to that. It’s not that I wanted it to be more camp, it’s that those elements were there but left by the wayside and it was a little “elephant in the room” phenomenon and felt awkward for not being addressed

gaga's accent has nothing camp lol, it's just an accent, she played a real woman, people wanten a gradiose interpretation full, a bad bitch cynical gold digger and fortunately gaga didn't approached it that way, people would have enjoyed that and move on quickly, the movie has a lot of instrospection in her character, there was no "potetial" to be camp because that wasn't what the movie was shooting for, yet it manages to have dark humor and comedic undertones, it's more about your filter and your perception of it and what you wanted, it's not the movie.
Leto's accent i can understand why some poeple call it "camp" but he's just the court jester of the movie, that's it.

Not just being an actor, but being Gaga, a multi mega millionaire, yes, makes her a bit out of touch lol something that isn’t helped by a press junket like this. And call it what you want, but this is what people responded to. If I’m looking at this from a PR perspective it just reads as a bit sheltered and removed from the world at large and might not entice the average movie goer to see the film. I’m not saying I’m offended, I’m saying that you have to think strategically when doing press for a film. The strategy for HOG was a bit chaotic.

people at large want to find something relatable and aspirational in celebs. That’s partially why marvel films have done so well. The execution of Gaga’s press tour didn’t really accomplish that. That has noooothing to do with personal feelings; it’s just a business analysis lol you want to make your work appealing to people.

I see where you're coming from. On a personal level, I don't really agree, but I get it in the context of a PR campaign for a mass audience.

the strategy for gaga is always being as autenthic and honest about the process and her approach to it, that's it, since the beggining of her career, no matter what other people would think or how the general perceltion would result, she's never been the one to make people see her work in an appealing way.

If anything i find inspirational to see someone being this committed to their art, taking her job so seriously and embracing it with all her heart, living it and breathing her artistry, this is why i love her, people who think that way can honestly go f*ck themselves, and i'm happy that gaga don't give a f*ck about them either,  they kill the passion for art and artists, wanting them to be mold to their perceptions of relatability and what they think is acceptable, this is relatable to me and i'm not a millionaire or live in a mansion.

LOL, no. Amy was 27 when she DIED. Gaga is 35! They'll cast an actress in her 20s.

It's like BEN PLATT (who was 27 at the time) playing a teenager in the film version of Dear Evan Hansen. He was widely mocked and nominated for a Razzie. 🙄

It'd be different if he played Evan from 17 to 47, but that's not the case... It's a TEEN musical about a 17-year-old! Why not cast a younger actor??

so i guess my idea about Gaga playing teenage Britney Spears in her biopic didn't age well then :cyanlights:

I think the main issue with HoG is that it wasn't suppose to be a dark comedy. On its premise and introduction, it's clear that they wanted to make&market HoG as a crime drama/family biopic. But the bad script and messy editing makes it very confusing and Leto's acting makes it unnecessarily funny. When a supposedly "serious" drama turns comedic, it's gonna be a problem for critics/awards.

However I think she can totally take a role from a real comedy movie. Comedy with good script, good actings, aesthetic and production can also perform well with critics and award bodies. Cher and Barbra Streisand won their Oscar with comedy roles. In recent years, actors like Ronan (Lady Bird), JLaw (SLP), Robbie (Tonya) all got nominated or won the Academy with a (well made) comedy movie. So it shouldn't be a problem.
