Absolutely. In the US at least they've been buying politicians for decades to rig the system to amass even larger fortunes. Nobody could spend that much money in a lifetime :rip:

When your net worth is larger than entire swaths of the population of the country you live in, YOU'RE THE BAD GUY. I think it was said that the richest 400 people in the US own more wealth than everyone else combined. Like, how is that even allowed :rip:

Nobody gets that rich without cheating somehow, screwing over someone, or stealing something. Usually all 3 (cheating the laws, screwing over the middle/lower class, stealing labor, and using tax breaks bought with crooked politicians and fraudulent reporting to steal tax dollars or underpaying employees so severely that they have to use public welfare to survive).

The CEO of the company I work for makes about 500 times more than I do in pure salary. That's before benefits and bonuses. It's closer to 700 times after that.

They want to accuse us of "class warfare" when they've been kicking us down for decades :madge:

Are people actually defending Amazon on here?Ā :laughga:
I guess they don't know what misery working there is - there's a reason why turnover rate at Amazon is so high despite relatively higher wage...

It's a joke! When you give me that look, it's a joke!

Precisely

Ā

Unfortunately (and ppl are gonna hate me for this but its my genuine opinion) because ppl are passionate and angry about this they think more emotionally and not intellectually and they also shut out genuine discussions or debates

Ā

I think the system needs so much reform but i also think much of the left has a lot of bad ideas about how to achieve it, or to an even bigger extent, unrealistic expectations of how much purchasing power can be redistributed and thus expect and promise too much

Ā

Theres 3 things in particular that worry me about the ones that tend to take the most passionate stance against the rich

Ā

1. Not factoring in the effect of offsetting factors with most policies in calculations (all policies have pros and cons. If u only look at the pros and ignore the effect of the cons ur gonna promise a glossed up sugar coated version of the reality those policies would bring on a net basis without even realizing it)

Ā

2. Not understanding the difference between wealth in asset form vsĀ income/purchasing power... the latter of which is the one that gives a more accurate picture of how much purchasing power can actually be transfered or equalized. Asset wealth means rubish in mass scales

Ā

3. Not understanding the concept of productive capacity fully (which partially goes hand in hand with purchasing power)Ā and therefore do not understand that what the rich have hoarded and are not spending on anything, if unleashed into the economy and everyday individuals much of the purchasing power u imagine that much wealth would have would be gone because it would have major inflationairy implications

Ā

Im very aligned with the left wing progressives in principal about what needs to be tackled but i also find the left tends to have a very basic understanding of important economic technicalities and would probably be deeply disapointed to learn if we ever managed to equalize this wealth large wealth gap that the real gain in income and purchasing power would be more modest than is generaly perceived

Elon Musk didn't create Tesla. He's literally just another Silicon Valley brat who got lucky.

No, the CEO or the investors don't deserve to earn millions or billions on the back of the working force. If Tesla is thriving it's not only because of Elon or people bringing money, it's also because of the 70 000 employees who wake up every morning. Do you realise that a single man gave almost 6 BILLIONS to secret charitiesĀ  ?! With that money EVERY SINGLE employee could get a 80k$ bonus.

a lot of my friends who work at different places within tesla have a very healthy salary with stock options that have gone up about 1300 percent since they started. It's not guaranteed to go up forever, but they are being compensated much better than others ( starts with a ends with zon )

I don't say they're underpaid. I say that if a company earns that much it's just fair to pay the employees for their good work.

:ally:Ā yeah because Tesla pays so little. They pretty much start at $20 an hour. If anything they prove a company can pay more than just a livable wage of $15 and still be profitable.

Don't act like 20$ is diamond rich. The company keeps growing and earning thanks to the employees, they deserve a fair share of the benefits

you cry over a non skill jobs pay

you cry wolf to rest of non skilled workers, theyĀ demand the same.Ā
Ā

Billionares start agreeing with raising the payĀ

but aren’t stupidĀ

they can just increase cost of living, increase interest rates.Ā
Ā

all while small companies with hard workers with licenses and skills Ā  Ā And non lazy POS who workedĀ theirĀ life to get their job and their above normal pay, then STRUGGLE to pay employees above non skilled jobs Ā  Ā  Ā
Ā

they have to suffer price gouges and cost of living to pay employees more, or suffer and lose a business Ā Ā
Ā

all these Amazon karrenians and musketarrians Ā  Ā  Are actually ruining America because they are lazy. Ā  Ā  Ā Ā
My job once upon a time was considered to pay amazing Ā  Ā  Then Amazon came along and we are struggling keeping up with raises to barely match above Amazon so we don’t lose employeesĀ

Why are you more upsetĀ at poor people struggling to make ends meet than at the powerful people who choose to put profits over people?Ā
Ā

and being unskilled doesn’t mean you should struggle to feed your family.Ā
