xKorix 156
I think it's important to remember (and to maintain perspective) that many notable actors get snubbed frequently and lose frequently. This is a part of this career. It's rare for anyone to only win. Losses, big losses are part of the game and no one comes home with an award after every movie. Oscar darling Frances McDormand was paid dust this year despite winning last year, Leo was nowhere to be found, Meryl, etc. Remember not to put everything into one project/opportunity and attach some greater meaning to it. We don't know if Gaga will get another chance but one snub doesn't automatically mean she won't. This woman puts her heart and soul into everything and has a library of awards already for a reason. Acting is a long game, you can't think of it in terms of 2-3 years but in decades. It's a long slow process to build a career. Take Kristen, Twilight was 14 years ago! And she's been acting since a child. Many things can happen in the future and I'm sure Gaga will have opportunities as I feel she made HOG the success it was and the only successful drama of the pandemic. She has star power. Night Vision 3,068
There are actors like Samuel L Jackson, Glenn Close, Sir Ian McKellan, Johnny Depp, Sigourney Weaver, Bradley Cooper, and many acclaimed successful actors who have never won an Oscar. Gaga is still so early in her acting career, there is plenty of time for her to win in the future. And she is already an Oscar winner for Shallow, which is a huge achievement. connorfilm 7,295
You know what's worse than not getting an Oscar nomination for your second leading role? Being screwed around for decades. Did y'all know Glenn Close has been nominated EIGHT times over her career, never winning? Amy Adams has been nominated six times, winning zero. That's rough. Plus, many famous actors have only gotten a single nom and never won. Jake Gyllenhaal, Hugh Jackman, Oprah, Mark Wahlberg, Uma Thurman, Sharon Stone, Diana Ross, Robert Redford, Liam Neeson, Eddie Murphy, Bill Murray. The good news is Gaga's only had two leading roles as an actress and she's just getting started! I feel another nom will come her way sooner than later. enissa11 2,984
yeah, let's just now root for her at the SAGs and BAFTAs, her performance needs more recognition!!! Mad Architect of Light
djBuffoon 12,115
Gary Oldman, arguably one of the greatest actors on the planet, only received his first Oscar nomination in 2011, despite being an acclaimed screen actor for decades.
RabbitHeart 793
It's true. I remember watching the actress roundtable for THR I think and they asked them if they've ever realized a project wasn't going to turn out well in the middle of filming it and all of them except Gaga were like "oh yeah of course, duh". That made me realize just how new to the game she was.
EGOT2027 10,893
i actually think we might look back on this one day and think it was a good thing. gaga always does best when she is the underdog, and a lot of us were already worrying about her acting career peaking too early from so much exposure

And even if not, she already has an Oscar. She's done such a great job moving from music to TV and film.
Wet Fire 7,404
Jake Gyllenhaal was snubbed in spite of his tour de force performance in Nightcrawler. Snubs happen all the time. Not a big deal.
Anderson123 38,184
Snubs happen all the time but this one is so shocking because she's nominated everywhere except the Oscars. So happy to see her getting so much recognition for every major role she has done and her music, this woman is so talented.
Evil R 1,084
Well, it all boils down to the fact that people should care less about so-called prestigious award shows like Grammys or Oscars or whatever...just enjoy the life please.
EGOT2027 10,893
we should also all remember that a lot of us were terrified going into this era that she would get panned and that it would be the end of her acting career. she was nominated for a BAFTA, a golden globe, a SAG award, and a critics choice award...not to mention she won the prestigious new york critics circle award. in other words, her acting career is far, far, far from over. this movie received more commercial success than any of us were expecting, and literally everyone who sees the movie says she is the best part. gaga is in this for the long haul
Guillaume Hamon 6,469
They often give it to people who had many deserving performances nominated yet always failed to get one. Let Gaga go through the usual process, being nominated several times till it seems to be time to give it to her when she'll face ladies who already won and others didn't prove themselves as much...
