Actors nominate actors. Gaga was  nominated by her fellow ACTORS for a SAG award, a BAFTA and an Oscar for ASIB.

She's been nominated by the 99% (SAG, a labor union) AND the 1% (the Actors Branch of the Academy and the British Academy).

This literally only matters when it works in your favour, as soon as someone you like doesnt get nominated all of a sudden it's why has this person been snubbed and boycott this and that. I would love to see the thread if Gaga didn't get nominated, it would be a different story. They're not infallible. And just because a critic decides something doesn't mean I have to like it.

Even though I'd prefer her focus on her music career because it's what I enjoy the most, I can't be selfish,

I don’t have to worship the ground she walks on so I’m going to say disparaging things about her acting that audiences are raving about. Basically “IM RIGHT” and the experts and everyone else are wrong.

Anyone can say that they don't think Gaga is giving Best Actress performances yet and no one needs to jump to defend her because that person just said what they feel, period.

Every thread is the same thing, everyone coming out with all of the nominations, awards, mentions and acclaim because blah blah blah like we all didn't know what she has achieved. Let people not think she's the greatest actress ever or just not think that she's the best human being on earth, people can be huge fans and not need to defend her like we were still 13 years old fighting because Taylor Swift won an award that Gaga was nominated for.

Here’s where you have totally misinterpreted what everyone including I have said. Basically everyone is entitled to an opinion but it’s when you just say your opinion is right and everyone else is wrong that’s when people respond. If u said it was purely your opinion, fine but no everyone else is wrong and you are right makes u sound like a petulant child. 
As I mentioned, when someone is in the public eye so much their mannerisms are public knowledge and can be over analysed. We really don’t see much of meryl Streep in our day to day life so we can buy into her acting. This is why some people think Gaga is just being Gaga (mostly in ASIB) but she really isn’t, we just know her too well.

Firstly if anyone of any gender gave a performance I didn't think was worthy of an award I'd say the same thing so let's get that right.

Secondly, I'm just stating my opinion, I didn't say anything was fact actually, I just don't think her performance was best actress worthy. And I'm allowed to think that. You really need to get a grip. Flying off the handle and bringing in people I have not mentioned or talked about does not prove your point but go off sis.

Lastly, I was not talking about voters worshipping the ground she walks on but rather other fans including you because you can't take the fact that someone out there disagrees with you and disagrees with some critics, actors, whatever. Not my problem dude, you should really calm down.

Y'all take the worst examples from mediocre films, and I understand that you feel you're defending Gaga here.

But first of all, I did acknowledge her talent (because she's an excellent actress). The only thing I'm saying is that if it wasn't for her status, HoG wouldn't be as glorified because the film is not that good. And Gaga's just starting as an actress, I know she will have even better roles that will merit all the acclaim.

Acting is an art form, so appreciation of it is subjective. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you think Gaga is a terrible actress or a great actress or somewhere in between, that's all fine, you're entitled.

My opinion is that she is already very good and is on the way to being great. She is talented, she is deadly serious and she will be striving to learn as she goes. She might yet win an Oscar for Patrizia, it's a real possibility, but if she hadn't had to put on that accent then I think they could have cancelled the ceremony and just posted her the statuette. Even if she doesn't win this year, I think it is probable that she will win at least one within the next five years.

Well, I'm sorry for even commenting in the first place. But don't twist my words to say I'm degrading people, because I never did it in the first place.

And well, Cher won the Oscar over Glenn Close, even when Glenn's performance was impeccable. And Cher's an amazing actress too, but her name pushed the Oscar. Same happened with JLaw when she won her Oscar.
