Right, cause lockdowns have worked so well to stop the spread of the virus so far.

It would've worked, if people like you obeyed the lockdown, listened to science, and didn't go out and about during the lockdown.

I live in Orange County now, [look up the real housewives of orange county to see the kind of people that live out here]. The people out here DO NOT care one bit about this pandemic nor do they even believe in it. My job never shut down and there was only a total of 5 employees who were willing to work. Including me. We had no masks for a few months AFTER "lockdown", no hand sanitizer, plexi glass. Nothing. I'm certain our numbers will go up again because everyone is now angry about the mask mandate. I work in food so us workers never stopped wearing masks. Honestly. I'm a OK with a lock down. It'll give all stores struggling to staff up, time to slow down and set things up without the pressure of trying to complete staffing a store with a deadline. No one is applying to any jobs and so many businesses are overwhelmed, overworked and this might give us a chance to catch our breath.

I really hope we don’t go into another lockdown in Australia, it’s caused serious detrimental mental health issues to people I know and I had a spout of depression during the last lockdown. The majority of people in the country are double vaccinated, people need to go about their lives cause we’re gonna be living with covid for years to come.

If you wanna blame some one look at Canada's direction that is #1 country hoards a lot of them. 

Canada has purchased enough shots to vaccinate its entire population 5.2 times over. Australia wins silver, with enough doses to vaccinate its population 4.6 times. The United Kingdom wins bronze by procuring sufficient doses to vaccinate every citizen at least 4 times over. The EU is not far behind, with enough doses to vaccinate everyone 3.5 times over.

I'm getting my Pfizer booster shot on Monday, but I'm also gonna see the new spiderman movie tomorrow and it'll surely be packed and I hope I don't catch anything before then 

 

I mean, I haven't caught anything yet, and I try to get tested at least once a month even though I'm vaccinated just to be sure. But, like, with my luck....

They don't do it every time a new one appears. Omicron is the 15th letter of the Greek alphabet. I think there are 2 letters they skipped for some reason. But my point is, there are multiple variations of the virus that we don't hear about. We only hear about the ones with a potential for danger or that change the game. In the cause of Omicron, it seems to be MUCH more transmissible even than Delta. When they are naming new strains they usually go through the Greek alphabet. Your point doesn't make any sense because they literally ARE ignoring the ones that don't matter. 

Vaccination and mask wearing have been proven to be the MOST effective strategies -- that does not mean lockdowns do not do anything to mitigate the damage. That just is not true.

I don’t foresee this happening in the US anytime soon, not at the national level at least. It’s been evident for months that the federal government is leaving it up to states and businesses/corporations to call the shots around any restrictions and mandates to put in place. Here in Delaware, our Governor already announced last week no intention to shut anything down or enforce any type of policy for masks and leaving it at the discretion of the companies, bars and restaurants.

It sucks that it feels like we’re losing everything after a strong 6 months of things slightly moving in a better direction.

We aren't in any dire situation so yes, I do feel proud that my time complying with stay at home orders, masking up, and getting my vaccines worked.

Correct, Omicron is much more transmissible.  But it's far less severe.  If Omicron crowds out the much more severe Delta variant, which it's predicted to do very quickly, it's actually good news because it means fewer hospitalizations and deaths.  It could even signal the end of the pandemic.  So my point does make sense.

And I stand by what I said: lockdowns don't work.
