Dennis 8,391
Yes. I think she should dial it back. There's a lot of cynicism on Film Twitter about her. I mean you can see that tweet is liked by Variety senior VP, literally the outlet she's done the interview for. And notice how Gaga talks for 20 mins about a multitude of things, and Variety will pick the one thing that makes her feel extra and make it the headline. I really feel like they're setting her up sometimes.
Magui 2,629
Go figure... Someone warn Gaga, not even a peep about your mental health problems, not a peep about your process, that only works in music. Keep it beautiful and charming. And repeat how great Ridley, Pacino, Drive are, how fun everything was. Talk about your dogs, beautiful house, etc (she isn't married or have kids, so she can't speak about her beautiful kids and hubby) The good thing is that, to me ,she would **** on the Oscar nomination, if that means stop talking about your struggles, it isn't cute, you're just lying or exaggerating to get a nomination. Anyways it really never crossed my mind that the interview would come to this result, by far the best interview she gave during this period.

Dialing it back probably would kind of help her campaign and I can see why maybe she should do so.....but at the same time, as a fan and as someone who is annoyed by film twitter as of late...I kind of hope she just keeps being true to herself and ignores any backlash (and it's annoying the backlash is based on cherry picking quotes). Yeah, Variety has a bad habit of doing clickbait as of late (even though a lot of the writers actually clearly like Gaga). Kristen Stewart gave some interview and jokingly said she didn't give a sh*t about buzz (it was clearly a joke, and she followed it up by saying how excited she was)...and they ran like multiple headlines about her "not caring." THR does, too, but Feinberg at least-the main awards guy-avoids clickbait and is a soft touch.
Magui 2,629
And @LilyLark didn't you mention on some other thread that this interviews are wrongly perceive? I remember you talking about something like that, it was related to K Stewart, i remember it was a thread where some were already dragging her too. There's a saying in my country "Não podes agradar a gregos e troianos" ( you can't please greek and trojans at same time). Edit: i didn't read the post above. HuffsAhoy 7,433
Speaking about mental health is something Lady Gaga has become known for worldwide. I don't think her mentioning it during an interview for the press campaign will be deteremential at all. You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love. G U C C I 5,513
If her or her team was worried about how she was perceived for the awards campaign, then they would change a lot more than just what she says. The makeup, hair, some outfits, red carpet “performances,” her Elaine Benes moves in the Jazz shows she has done for TV and for the most important members of the voting academy, etc. The list could go on. I’m even guilty of wishing at times some things would be changed or dialed back but honestly those things are just her. She was legitimately born an eccentric genius and has achieved soooo much by being unapologetically HER. I honestly believe that no matter the cringe that she may produce from time to time would ever hinder her at all. If anything it just further pushes the narrative that she has established for her self as an overly passionate & dramatic artist and person. She is unique and loved for it. Even the people who hate her for it seem to keep her name in their mouths more than others so at the end of the day she’s still winning.

Gaga says a lot of cringy and cheesy sh*t at times but you can't deny that it is truly genuine and so herself. I would rather her be embarassingly genuine than be embarassingly dishonest. She has been that person since the beginning and she's still here.

IDK, honestly, film twitters reaction to this interview, Licorice Pizza, and some other stuff has kind of turned me off...film twitter in general. That said, there's nothing wrong with liking Licorice Pizza but the people (even critics) sneering and jeering at everyone who is slightly uncomfortable with it...doesn't sit right.
