I'll be honest, I don't think she's at the point of her career where she really deserves this kind of honor. She has two films to her name (that we count), and these kind of awards feel like they should be honoring a body of work.

That said, I think it's an honor that'll age well. I have no idea at what point Meryl or Glenn won this award, so someone 20 years from now may be thinking Gaga was awarded for a long and impressive career the way I instinctively think of it relative to past recipients.

The fact that she not only has won an 'Icon award' from CFDA for fashion, from Songwriters Hall of Fame for songwriting, but now has one for acting.

Palm Springs Film Awards Ceremony Canceled Due to COVID Concerns

For the second consecutive year, the Palm Springs International Film Festival has canceled its star-studded, in-person awards gala amid rising concerns around COVID-19 and the Omicron variant.

“The Film Awards will partner with ‘Entertainment Tonight’ to celebrate this year’s honorees with details to follow,” the statement continued.

The film society also noted that the screening portion Palm Springs Film Festival, which runs Jan. 7-17, will still take place and require proof of vaccination and masks in theaters.
