Even back in my small town in New Zealand in the 90's my tiny primary school of like 90 students had a curriculum that taught us about fruits, vegetables, meats, nutrition, being active and healthy, eating 5+ fruit and veg a day, the food pyramid of healthy foods/all the time foods vs unhealthy foods/sometimes foods, that a meal should be meat and 3 veges (some of which is a bit outdated now but it was still a big part of our education). We even had a small cooking unit where we made simple meals on gas cookers. Then we had to do take cooking classes at intermediate at 11/12 years old (along with things like sewing, electronics, woodworking, a little bit of Maori, French and Japanese) Now I need to move to NZ before starting a family so my kids can get an actual education

My dad told me hot dogs were made from dogs Pretty sure I ate them anyway and just hoped he was joking though When I got a little older I was told they were made from 'lips and assholes' which probably isn't inaccurate tbh Do you feel him sir? I checked and it turned out IFLScience is generally legit! https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/ifl-science/ It ranks high in factual reporting, in the same category as media sources such as The Guardian and The New York Times (all of them also being left-biased too which isn't surprising )

Mikolaj 11,640
Maybe you all shouldn't get triggered by the state of knowledge of little kids? How much did you know about the world at 4 years old? The society isn't gonna forget where the bacon comes from so don't act like it

We already live in a society where they're forced to grow up too fast. Believing in Santa Claus for a while ain't hurting no one. You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love. Freud 5,988
That reminds me of a funny story when I was a kid. As i was eating liver sausage bread (it's a german thing), I asked my mother that there is not actually liver in it, is it? To which she replied, no it isn't. Flash forward, to when I was able to read and looked up the ingredients, i spitt out the bread I was eating. I never felt more betrayed in my whole life... vpez 1,250
I mean 176 participants aren't really representative, but it's shocking non the less. Our western society managed to fully ignore the consequences of our actions, and food is only one example. Everyone should know, what really happened to the animal when you bite in a hot dog etc. The cruelty behind that is only one aspect, the consequences on our health, environment and in the end again on our society isn't much better at all. trust is like a mirror, you can fix it if it's broken but you can still see the crack in that ************s reflection. I mean these people are judging America as a whole on a bunch of kids who still believe in Santa clause and the tooth fairy. There’s nothing wrong with that. No one should be expecting them to know how to eat the right foods or **** like that.
