How is Adele like Barbra? :bear:

She’s definitely more Whitney (if she transitions to more dance pop) or Celine :huntyga:

But they weren't, though. They're two different bands, different sounds, and different artists. A successful group of artists shouldn't be compared to the one prior just because they're successful. I think it takes originality away.

That’s not how it works

if they’re market and target audience is the same, they are “the next”

By your logic every act is original and that’s just basic logic and yet people who believe the same as you say all kpop is the same when every artist and band is different and original in their own way and spans generations

I dunno, I fully believe every act, band, artist is different. I think there's a lot of label-pressured influence on a lot of groups to be "the next", but it's all rooted in greed. Every person has the potential to bring something new and theirs into the world, I don't think it's healthy that we do that. I also don't agree with "all __ is the same" either, especially when there's proof in the discography of whatever genre (country, rap, K-Pop) someone's referring to.

He calls taylor this generation’s Beatles not the new Beatles. Subtle but very distinct. It’s just a phrase to quickly convey an idea.

This is such a false equivalence... The Beatles were very experimental with their musical sound and techniques. I'm sure I'll get some retort about this being about popularity but that doesn't really work either. The Beatles literally had to stop touring because the audiences were dangerous.

That's... quite the statement, especially from someone who's old enough to remember the Beatlemania of the 1960s.

I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree

Is he just trying to say that times have changed, and that Taylor v Beatles is a good representation of that, and he's not judging, he's just making the observation ?

Apparently according to him, if you’re popular and write your own music, you’re the Beatles

Mariah is the Beatles confirmed

Did Taylor sue Billy Joel to get him to say this? Billy blink three times if you're in danger.

Surely Beatles in 2021 would be some hip hop group or artist. Say drake

Ofc this isn’t even serious but he’s remark makes no sense. He talks about the music, but nah

Is she the supremes of this era. Not really but yeah that would make more sense

anywho such different contexts. Even more in 2021 there’s little resemblance to distant 60s from last century.

But what is that observation based on? They're both so different
