Do you wish that Boys Boys Boys and SummerBoy were singles?

Crucify me all you like, but I think I’m one of the few who believe Starstruck wouldn’t have performed well. Melodically, it’s not on par with JD, PF, LG, or Paparazzi imo. Cute song, but more of a fan fave.

Been a cuff touple, a puff bupple, a tough couple of years.

During the era, I definitely thought BBB, Summerboy, and Starstruck had more single potential than Paparazzi or even LoveGame. But in hindsight with how everything played out in terms of videos, performances, and impact I'm glad we got 4 iconic back-to-back singles* and I think additional ones/different ones would've muddied it

*Eh Eh? I don't know her :enigma:

Summerboy is cool but not single worthy.

A lot of people stay Starstruck would do good because it went platinum (1M copies sold) on its own. I agree with you though, for some reason I can't imagine this song entering the top 10.

I think she did the right thing with stopping after Paparazzi. Both LoveGame and Paparazzi were structurally and melodically very different from the first two singles.

The middle (Beautiful, Dirty, Rich to Paper Gangsta) of the album emulated the structure and production of Poker Face and Just Dance a little too much, while Boys Boys Boys is just plain basic and trite. Could've easily been an Esmée Denters reject.

Brown Eyes, I Like It Rough and Summerboy aren't strong enough to stand out as a single, despite being bops. Well, the latter two at least.

Starstruck had major potential though, as it almost charted as an album cut in the US. Not sure if it would've charted well worldwide.

For The Fame Monster she chose the right songs as well. From Born This Way on the ability to choose the right singles (at the right time) was lost.

They did the right thing with choosing BTW as the lead and releasing the next single only 8 weeks later. But it had to be The Edge Of Glory, followed by Marry The Night in July and Hair in October. End the era with You And I for the Angelophone countries, Scheiße in Europe and Heavy Metal Lover as the final sixth single and I believe the era would've been a bigger success.

I agree with the BTW era. It was super mismanaged and ruined everything. Y&I being a global single never made sense. Then everything was too late by the time MTN was released. Scheiße could've been the perfect single after TEOG.

They might've done just ok after Paparazzi but probably wouldn't have performed as well as any of the previous singles.  Gaga had the foresight to move on to Bad Romance at that moment, which proved to be a critical move at that time in her career, and it definitely paid off.

I agree about BTW, but I think TEOG would overshadow the rest of the singles if it was single 2. I wouldve done something like this:

1. BTW (February 2011)

2. You And I ( May 2011)- Imagine how HUGE this would've been, and since it's pre album it would've done well in Europe as well! Gaga would surprise the GP with a classic ballad!

- Hair (promo)

3. Judas (July 2011)-  I believe this would do better coming off of YAI, especially in Europe. I bet the fans would wildly request it as well, especially after the previous single.

4. MTN (October 2011)- Cuz it's a fall/ winter bop, melancholy mixed w/ hope especially for the new year!

5. TEOG (February 2012) Perform it at NYE after MTN and again at the Grammy's as a tribute to Whitney/ Clarence Clemons. Use it as promo for the tour and milk it as much as you can! Slowly would rise and hit top 10 during summer 2012! Makes sense as final single, especially the message!
