Oscars Predictions: Best Actress – Is This Race Between Lady Gaga (‘House of Gucci’) and Kristen Stewart (‘Spencer’)?

On Variety's prediction list, Gaga was previously at #6 or #7, but stormed up to #2 upon the trailer's release.

Not so fast, people are starting to root for Gaga. Well at least they're saying if anyone can threaten Kristen they're all saying it's Gaga and not Hudson, Chastain, etc.

I'm actually really happy for both of them, and the recognition they are both getting as serious actors! Kristen has been slept on for too long, and Gaga deserves everyone to see her real talent and understand that ASIB was nota  fluke!

It seems to me that Gaga has practically no chance for the win, as it's going to be Kristen vs Jessica 

However Gaga is scoring a nomination EASILY, which is... ****!ng amazing? Imagine having your 2nd serious acting gig, getting a consecutive BA nomination? Legend tingz.

this is only gaga’s second film as a lead actress so while I’m not expecting her to win as such (even though that would be amazing) a nomination itself is still a win. I’m just happy we’re getting more movie content from her tbh!

I haven't seen any of the performances but people are saying Jessica doesn't stand a chance at winning. I have no idea why perhaps it's because it's lost its momentum or something.

Well it really depends on how the award season unfolds. Gaga was predicted to win the Oscar for A Star Is Born but the moment she lost it to Glenn Close, she kinda lost the momentum.

I also have this theory that Gucci's silence in the preceding months is actually a good thing. A Star Is Born was literally everywhere between October and December, by February people were tired of the hype and some said that the acclaim was exaggerated and both Bradley and Gaga suffered from this narrative.

Given how the 2022 Oscars has been delayed to March 28 (Gaga's birthday), it's actually great how they built the momentum late.

Her previous roles, maybe but definitely not Spencer. She actually looks very convincing in that one.

It’s looking really tight so far! I’ll be rooting for Gaga (Obviously) and Kristen, I certainly feel like the latter gets undeservingly put at low end of the bar nowadays, she still has potential and I can feel that with Spencer.
