She's written great songs, has an infectious personality, produced numerous hits, and is making millions every week on a singing competition, let alone she's got a Vegas show premiering soon. Y'all can trash and drag her all you want, but she'll be remembered for years to come. ‘Icon’ of?

Look where she is now, now that she doesn't use him anymore out of fear of getting cancelled. Sorry to say, y'all won't like to hear this, but it is what it is. I agree Dr Luke's production definitely played a role in her success as a pop artist, but it doesn't just end there. she worked with Max Martin as well in 2017 for Witness and she didn't get much positive reactions (even though I personally like the album). I think marketing plays a more relevant role when the goal is to be around as a pop music artist for a decent amount of time.
Smother Em Eh 7,095
She’s good and has had a lot of hits but I don’t think she has true icon status. I feel like Witness and Smile didn’t help her case either. Her last album was just predictable, generic and done before just…. basic and nothing new. I hope she releases something that showcases her true potential and artistry, shocks the industry and make some change my mind. Get Applause & G.U.Y to 1B views! Economy 49,560
I would agree. She definitely wasnt among the biggest in terms of a loyal cult following or in terms of being revolutionairy But in terms of being loved by the masses (the common trait of a pop star) and generating a lot of hits shes really up there
Chlorine 47,976
Her streak of hits was impressive, but that's it. I would not call her "one of the best pop icons of all time" by a long shot. The formula that she had with Dr. Luke for Teenage Dream worked very well for her, but she was never able to reinvent herself, and she did not have a larger impact on pop music or culture. So hits alone does not get you into the "all time" tier, but she is a pop icon.

HEARTSTOP 3,137
She is a good pop singer, I wouldn't say she is an icon. For me, an icon is someone who influences the course of their respective field in a significant manner. For someone with so many hits, she had zero impact in changing the pop scene, which is very strange. But I guess that's the cause of her becoming more and more forgotten by the day.
