I need to listen a few more times, because itās definitely a pretty song - kinda nostalgic, a bit melancholic, and her vocals are on point. It just feels a bit off as her first single back in 6 years. But I do kinda wonder, based on descriptions of what the rest of the album sounds like, if they chose this as the lead BECAUSE itās so in line with her trademark sound. There is definitely a formula to how she does her roll outs, itās not so much letās just do whatās safe but sheĀ makes sure that whatever she does is aesthetically pleasing for autumnal months. Hello had the exact same treatment, a emotional ballad with autumnal imagery in theĀ video - it all translates quite beautifully when youāre out in the world listening to the songs and that is her intentionĀ Not the bore worms! Hereās the thing, yes thereās an expectation towards artists to renew their image, sound and what not from time to timeĀ but if this is really whatās coming from her heart genuinely then we can feel it, I think this is the case now. Sometimes itās more important to have artistic integrity in the work rather than having the urge to showĀ something new which might not fit very well.
