Biagio2103 5,621
So recently I've been seeing a lot of discussions about Gaga's eligibility for the 2022 Grammy Awards, and I think it's time to clarify things. For the next Grammys, Gaga is eligible for five categories, and these are: As Love for Sale is being released on September 30th in West Coast, it is eligible for the Grammys next year in two categories: Album of the Year and Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Since there is no longer a comittee to shut them out, both categories are likely to happen, with a secure win for Traditional Pop Vocal Album, as Tony has won this category 14 times out of 17 nominations, plus their previous duo album Cheek to Cheek won back in 2014. They are also eligible for both Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, with either ""I Get a Kick Out of You" or "Love for Sale". Though there is no commitee here either, a ROTY nomination seems unlikely. However, Pop Duo/Group is a differente story: Gaga is the current winner and the only artist to win more than once with a perfect record of two wins out of two nominations. Tony has also been nominated twice, winning in 2012 along with Amy Winehouse and losing in 2019 against, you guessed it, Gaga herself. So this powerful duo could potentially win this as well, as the Pop voters love them. They can't be nominated for Song of the Year because that category recognizes music and lyrics from year of publishing, meaning that cover songs are not elegible. Now, the fifth and final possible category is Best Music Video for "911", the only music video Gaga released during the elegibility period. She could also send one of the L4S MV, but this is unlikely to happen as both videos are just recording sessions. Now, this nomination is also likely to happen, as "911" got two nominations at the VMAs for Best Cinematography and Best Art Direction, plus winning the award for Best Make-Up at the 2021 Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards. This would be Gaga's second nomination in this category, after winning with "Bad Romance" in 2011. "911" is not eligible for Best Pop Solo Performance because it is ifeatured on Chromatica, an album that got nominated during the previous year. Now, a lot has been said about Dawn of Chromatica, but sadly, we won't be getting any nominations from this project. As a remix album, it can only be nominated for Album of the Year, but Gaga is already submitting Love for Sale, and she can't submit two albums for consideration. The rules for Best Dance/Electronic Album says that "Compilation or remixed recording albums are not eligible for this category". Same rule applys for songs on Best Dance/Electronic Recording. However, all tracks from Dawn of Chromatica are eligible for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical. However, this award goes to the remixer, not the original artist. That would mean that if, for example, "Rain on Me" gets nominated, the nomination is for Arca, if it's "Fun Tonight", it'll be Pabllo Vittar, and so on. For the specific case of "Babylon" (Haus Labs), the award will go to BloodPop and Tchami. So, though it would be nice for any of the artists involved to get some recognition for this project, Gaga isn't winning a Grammy out of this. With all that said, we can expect Gaga to get 3 or 4 nominations next year I'm only good at being bad
PeachJug 3,019
Omg thanks for the math sis 3-4 more grammys next year! I hope she can carry them
Anderson123 36,088
I'm only expecting Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album so anything else would be nice. I don't see this getting Album of the Year nom when the A Star Is Born soundtrack got snubbed and it was one of the best selling albums of that year. 911 tho, it'd be amazing if it gets in there. It is said that ASIB was indeed nominated for AOTY, but the commitee switched the nomination and instead put Gaga on SOTY for ARUTW. There's no commitee anymore, so the most voted will get the nominations. I understand people don't want to get their hopes high, but this being Tony's last album probably will make the Grammys show a lot of love. Guest
Maybe they'll submit L4S for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package too? Tho it wouldn't count for Gaga personally I guess
agpuh 138
I thought songs from Grammy winning, not nominated, albums were ineligible. Also, songs do not have to be a single to be nominated, so one of the solo tracks from Love For Sale could be nominated to Best Pop Solo Performance if they want to max out nominations . The first rule, as far as I know, now only applys for Record of the Year, but it was that way for all categories until 2013 I think, now the songs need to be from a non-winning or nominated albums. As for the second, yes, she could technically send "Do I Love You?" or "Let's Do It" for Pop Solo, but the album would need some serious campaigning to get a nomination there. Dawn Of Joanne Monster Part 2 (Where Do You Think You’re Goin’) (Piano Version) (Blessed Madonna Remix) (From The Vault) (Gaga’s Version) was nominated and won and all she did was put out a video so please enlighten me to death
