Producers Suniel Fox and Henry Strange reckon that record lifts from their 2015 track ‘Vibeking’. Indeed, ‘Call Out My Name’ and ‘Vibeking’ “contain quantitatively and qualitatively similar material in their respective lead guitar and vocal hooks, including melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic elements”, the two producers state in a new lawsuit filed with the courts in California. Fox and Strange allege that they sent a copy of ‘Vibeking’ to Tesfaye (The Weeknd) collaborator Eric White, aka PNDA, in April 2015. They did so, they add, on the specific understanding that White would share the track with Tesfaye on the basis that doing so might result in some kind of collaboration. The Weeknd heard the track and loved it. In fact, in 2015, The Weeknd replied to PNDA and said the “s#### fiiiire.” In 2016, PNDA said that although The Weeknd loved the track, nothing ever happened. The Weeknd released his six-song EP, My Dear Melancholy. The 1st song on the EP is the track “Call Out My Name,” which Suniel Fox and Henry Strange claim is derived directly from their song, ‘Vibeking'. Suniel Fox and Henry Strange claim they never received or sent a licensing agreement to let The Weeknd use ‘Vibeking'. BUT they have confirmation that The Weeknd not only heard their song but actually communicated that with them!!!! V incriminating tbh...
