Who’s seen this? I watched it on impulse last night.

I thought it was going to be pretty generic at first, but it ended up getting proper tense and unsettling as the movie went on!

John Goodman was definitely key in making it a good thriller

I loved it, I loved the fact that I couldn’t tell whether it was actually related to the first Cloverfield movie or not :enigma:

theres a third one on Netflix too, I really like how all three are completely different

the ending of the third one had me gagged at the time so I would suggest watching that next :flower: it’s more sci fi so hopefully you like that genre

when that feral lady ran up to the bunker and starting freaking out I was like oh dang he was right

And that montage of them adjusting to new home life made me genuinely like and appreciate him.. for a bit :toofunny:

Edit:

wow I genuinely can’t remember any of the the syntax for this forum, how do we add spoilers again? :sis:

It was good but very little element of Cloverfield alien that people wanna see after thw first ine, so I kinda understand why they are not too popular with some audience . :oprah:

Yes! The end of this movie felt like a nod to something else in the series (when she’s in her car and listening to the emergency radio)

I don’t think I’ve seen the original Cloverfield, I wonder if it’s on NZ Netflix. Could definitely be keen to check both out :yay:

A great movie! I saw it in theaters back when it was released. It's an excellent claustrophobic thriller with a script that has more layers than most of its kind.

It was great! I never thought John Goodman could ever be creepy but he was absolutely brilliant.

I thought the build up was amazing until the last act with the aliens and the action-ey CGI I feel the film just was derailed

Absolutely chaotic masterpiece of a sci-fi thriller. One of my favourite movies hands down.

I don't understand pineapples, so I don't eat bananas.

The little eyeball in the text box. If you're on mobile, you have to turn your phone to landscape to make it appear :music:

I almost loved it for that reason, because up until that point you either expect some sort of nuclear fallout, or attack from another country like Goodman’s character had mentioned earlier. Or that he was lying to keep the main girl hostage, and everything was normal on the outside.

So when I saw those alien ships flying overhead, I had the same “holy sh*t he was right, and it’s actually worse” reaction that the girl had.

It’s like the movie was self-aware of how over the top and convoluted the real scenario was, outside the bunker.

I did think it was corny how this neurotic, fashion designer girl suddenly had these complex combat and militia skills during the closing parts of the movie
