It is absolutely true, Teenage Dream is the personification of a commercial infectious Pop record. It is basic Pop but in the best way. When 5 singles in a row top the charts, that goes to show how irresistible the music on that record was. I will say that Gaga’s TF/TFM did create an environment where something like TD could flourish, as Pop music was at an all time high with the masses. While TF/TFM did have the digestible Pop records in Just Dance, Poker Face, Telephone, Gaga really pushed the envelope of Pop music and they were definitely edgier records, with more experimental sounds not as plain and “perfectly” Pop as TD. I will say though that Taylor’s 1989 did come very close to the formula of TD, it even is better written but something about the songs on TD are just so irresistibly catchy like nothing else out there.
