The best memory you have including him?

Watching Thriller for the first time as a kid and being scared :ladyhaha: Also trying dance moves with my childhood friend, we were obsessed and would hang out everyday at the park and try to dance or sing

More than an entertainer, to me his songs are so soulful it's an experience more than just songs, same with his performances. I like the man, but I'm not someone who thinks someone is a God or is a saint or the most amazing person in the world just because of worldwide fame. Michael was flawed like all of us but you could tell he had a heart that was pure but without being biased, and because of fame at such a young age, there's been times where he has a narcissist moment or ego, where he himself sometimes thinks he can "heal" people or the world. There's been moments where he was very delusional but I never judge that because I take into account the CONTEXT into which he grew up in. He was dedicated to his art 200%, and gave everything, his talent for people and in return they never thanked him for it. I get inspired by his kindness and openness to the world but I also always find some sadness in him just like Marilyn. I wanna be inspired by them but at the same time there were so much sadness in their lives that you can't just follow their examples too much. I think Michael was incredibly lonely, and you can see that in every interview since even before Thriller when they ask him who are your friends, he mumbles, he thinks hard, he always says Diana Ross or Quincy Jones, I think he deserved friends more than anyone in the world.

For sure he was. He definitely had a ton of friends (mem, women, and children), some of whom were fellow celebrities, others were just people he knew, but he always seemed like one of those "alone in a crowd" types. Likely due to his upbringing :noparty:

The biggest sign that he was depressed, anxious, traumatized, and stressed was that he died from a drug overdose. He wasn't chasing a high though, he was just trying to get a good night's sleep for once. That's heartbreaking :noparty:

💅Too cute to be this overworked and underf*cked💅

I can relate to that, going to sleep is horrible when u have bad anxiety but cant imagine with his problems. Also he didn't eat much during the trials, and was kinda forced to eat, I also get like that if something tragic happens in my life :/

Thanks for making this beautiful thread @PartySick :tony:

Happy birthday to the King!!

How were you introduced to him? - I feel like his music and presence has been all around me for as long as I can remember! Like most of my music taste, I probably first found out about him by my parents playing his music at home. I always liked and respected him but I only started properly stanning in the past couple of years.

What's your favorite song? - Sooo many great ones to choose from but probably PYT, Scream, Human Nature or Billie Jean.

Your favorite album? - HIStory, closely followed by Thriller.

Your favorite dance move? - Hard to choose just one, but I love the Beat It choreo:

michael-jackson-beat-it.gif FeminineOptimalCatfish-size_restricted.g

The best memory you have including him? - Halloween parties dancing to Thriller or whenever me and my bf play MJ in the car and do all the ad libs. It's impossible to be unhappy when belting out HEE HEE & SHAMONE :gaycat:

Is he just an entertainer to you? Or do you like the man himself? - I love the man. He is a truly good man, despite how the media tries to portray him.

Has he inspired you to "make that change"? - He inspires me like Gaga does, to believe in a kinder, more compassionate world. And to appreciate the simple beauty in life. I like this quote from his Ebony interview:

“I pray a lot. When I see a beautiful sunset, I say: ‘God, it’s beautiful, thank You’. Or a baby’s smile or butterfly’s wings or anything like that.”

Have you ever tried to dance like him? (be honest) - Of course, who didn't try to do the moonwalk as a kid? :laughga: Listening to Scream always makes me want to learn the choreo, but sadly I have two left feet...

There are many videos I could share today but I will just post this one. If you are a fan of the greatest smile in the world, this one is for you:

Let me just answer this one real quick :gayhat:

The first dance moves I learned to do from watching him was the popping and locking style he shows off when performing Stranger in Moscow :diane: This video would have gone under "favorite performances" but it's a mashup of many HIStory Tour shows :diane:

These dance moves are surreal, it doesn't even look human it's SO good. Even back with the J5 performing Dancing Machine, he nails this stuff.

How were you introduced to him?

My parents bought Off The Wall, Thriller, Bad, Dangerous and Invincible for me when I was 10.

What's your favorite song?

My favorite song is Billie Jean (so basic of me lol)

Your favorite album?

Bad

Your favorite dance move?

The moonwalk

The best memory you have including him?

Seeing the They Don’t Care About Us video for the first time.

Is he just an entertainer to you? Or do you like the man himself?

I do think he was more than entertainer. He seemed like such a pure and kind person who treated others well. And I have no doubt he was a great father. So yes I like the man himself.

Have you ever tried to dance like him? (be honest )

Constantly tried dancing like him as a kid.

I remember when I was about 7 or 8 my friend from down the road came running to me telling me about this video tape I needed to watch right now. We sat on the floor in front of her TV and became immediately captivated by what we saw. It was the Thriller music video and I remember we were so in awe of those dancing zombies. We kept pointing at each individual one and commenting on what made them stand out to the others. We rewound that tape dozens of times that day because we had to watch it over and over.

I'll always remember that because it was the first time I became a fan of music videos as an art form. I'd never felt that way about a music video until I saw Bad Romance.

Thriller is a masterpiece and we all knew throughout the nineties and 00's that it was one of the biggest pop culture moments but as time has gone on it seems people have forgotten.

Now that he's gone and I'm listening to his songs from different time periods of his life I feel it and see now how much of his soul he attached to everything he did and trully created something immortal. It feels like these songs are even more alive now, just because  the only thing that's left is music without all the scheisse that used to sometimes overshadow Michael's art during his life

Thanks for tagging me!!:kara:

Happy Birthday to the King himself!! We will miss you always Applehead:heart:

How were you introduced to him?

Sadly the news of his death made me REALLY look into his music and humanitarianism and become a stan, I was only 8 years old.

What's your favorite song?

Way too hard to choose, it changes a lot but many of my favourite songs are non-singles I’d say.

Your favorite album?

Dangerous and HIStory

Your favorite dance move?

Thriller of course, Dangerous, Ghosts and the moonwalk.

The best memory you have including him?

There’s too many to choose from but probably watching all the documentaries and music videos for the first time. Also when I danced in school to his music for a talent show and got a standing ovation, I was proud to be an MJ stan then:kiss: (as I am now of course!!)

Is he just an entertainer to you? Or do you like the man himself?

I love Kichael as a human and entertainer of course. To me he was much more than just a showman, he was a great gentleman and kind humanitarian who’s smile never failed to make me smile.

Have you ever tried to dance like him? (be honest )

Yes, I even auditioned on Britain’s Got Talent dancing to him:saladga::messga:

We never made it past the “trial” stage so it wasn’t aired:trollga:

once we got there we never took it seriously and kinda laughed our way through it as we were only kids! But now I take MJ dancing in way more seriousness:billie: (and fun of course) I love learning how choreographies.
