Natural World Photography Contest winners 'prove the resilience of nature'

Each year, the California Academy of Sciences asks photographers to submit their best photos to showcase the Earth's biodiversity. The winners and finalists of the 2021 BigPicture Natural World Photography Competition highlight the beauty of nature, as well as its struggles.

By spotlighting these incredible photographs of the natural world, the organizers hope that people will be inspired to protect and conserve the diversity of life found on our planet.

How awesome! Thanks for sharing. 

The first one makes me kind of sad though!   I love nature documentaries but I always fast forward or look away at the death scenes. I swear they are worse than a horror movie because they are real. I understand it’s the natural order of things, but damn.

We don't 100% know what was the outcome, the penguin might as well have survived! But this one is pretty sad too:
