Halsey said a publication turned down offer to have their maternity shoot on their cover.

In an appearance on Apple Music 1's Zane Lowe, Halsey shared, "There was publications that were like... You know, we were going out and trying to set up magazine covers based around the album release, and they were like, 'Yeah, but is she going to be pregnant? Because we don't want to do a maternity cover.'"

Halsey recalled, "And I was like, it's not a maternity cover. It's about my album—I just happen to be pregnant. And they're like, 'No, it's a pregnant cover.' And I was like, 'So I can't go talk about my album?'"

In July Halsey was on the cover of Allure magazine, after a magazine misgendered them (they referred to Halsey with female pronouns | Halsey’s pronouns are she/they), Halsey said she will no longer participate in press interviews.

can someone explain this for me?
I understand the thing with he/him, she/her and they/them, but why are female pronouns wrong when she uses the female ones and the non binary ones? I'm confused.

trust is like a mirror, you can fix it if it's broken but you can still see the crack in that ************s reflection.

The article in question made her gender identity a focal point, but they exclusively used "she/her" which is a bit disrespectful and shows no effort to take Halsey's pronouns seriously. If someone gives their pronouns, and offers more than one set like "she/they," its best to alternate between them. Depending on the person, most of the time its not the end of the world if you stick with one. In that case, its typically seen as just a lack of consideration, probably unconsciously.

Also, the Allure article didn't just ignore their pronouns, Halsey claims that they were "bastardizing" her quotes and misappropriating them.

Yeh everyone was confused by this before and it seemed like no one actually understood what was wrong :poot:

it shall remain the biggest mystery in life, along with why Gaga had lavender hair back in December :poot:

I think Halsey is very intelligent tbh but I kinda see the magazines point. When people see a pregnant woman in a cover, they would immediately think this is another “pregnant celeb” edition and then having the whole article about her album would be kinda misleading

But the Magazine could easily change the story like “She’s pregnant but keeps working”

Wait what? This is the first time I've ever heard this. If someone has different pronouns I have to alternate? Doesn't that just mean they're comfortable with both?

chaeri pls

This does not add to the conversation at all. People are more than allowed to have their own gender identity/pronouns. That’s why gender is separate from biological sex.

Religion is a product to sell.

The pronouns issue was straight up stupid. When you add the “/“ it means you’re comfortable with the options you’re giving.

No one is entitled to a magazine cover Halsey

No one said she's entitled to it but refusing to do it because she happens to be pregnant is f*cked up

Soft, soothing, and succulent
