this combined with her label not wanting her to drop the BTS remix, when does the contract expire?

Sadly, most of the money artists make nowadays is from touring and merchandise sales.

She'll win. Hopefully it's soon rather than later. It could hinder her ability to put out new music

It sucks that artists have to deal with all these crazy legal issues just to be artists :mark:

a 360 deal is an especially bad deal that is known to be signed by new artists and they quickly realize the mistake they made but this isnt surprising considering they normally dont look at the deal because they never know what it all means or they dont have proper lawyers or lawyers at all for that matter, but for a short description basically most of the artists sources of revenue come from live performances and merchandise and mostly benefit the label and this is what you see here with Megans label getting an almost complete majority of her music earnings + owning her masters

I mean they could be independent, but their success is somewhat limited. I don't understand how an artist or several artists haven't come together to create a label that signs new artists without screwing them over completely. That's my issue with Taylor Swift's argument about equal pay. She doesn't have the connections and capital to start her own label and after being as successful as she was she still decided to sign with another label rather than creating her own? Is there a secret benefit they rely on nobody knows about?

This is actually really interesting in a sad sense if you know what I mean. I am going to school for a career in the music industry (management most likely)

Do you imagine doing everything that Megan did last year and still qualifying "based on income" for food stamps?:saladga:

A genuine question I have is how does she afford her big house? Album advances?
