Two boreal lynx kittens, an endangered species, were born in the spring in the Vosges mountains in the north, the French Office for Biodiversity announced.

At three months old this summer, their mother Lycka raises them in the desert. Walking freely between the Franco-Germanic borders, the female gave birth in the Vosges that had not occurred in the region since the 17th century.

The beige fur and large pointed ears define the characteristic features of the lynx, known to be the only large wild cats present on French territory.

Recognizable by its beige coat and large pointed ears, the Eurasian lynx is the only large wild feline present in France, and is classified as an “endangered” species on the national “red list” of threatened species published by the World Union for nature (IUCN).

Lynxs are presently known to inhabit the Carpathians, the (Dinaric) Alps and northern Europe.

Yes, wolves were reintroduced in Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg, however there are probably only a few there. It's likely that they considered their population not significant enough to be shown (or the map is old). But if you look carefully, there are some dots in central/ northern Germany.
