Well, after all the terrorist attacks that France had to endure during the last 10 years it's not such a surprise that people aren't cheering for more Islamic people to come to France...

Those horrific attacks have traumatized a lot of French people.

So forcing and dictating what other women wear is solving a terror issue. You should run for office.

COME ON GAYS!!

Thats understandable but tbh its also a bit of polarization

Stuff like that always makes the news and gets observed under a microscope

Meanwhile vastly much larger numbers of ppl get killed regularly from domestic crimes that go unnoticed most not even reported on

Thats the problem with media. The relative risk or impact to society as a whole of 1 thing relative to other issues gets warped depending what ppl focus on

I also wouldnt be surprised if hostile tendencies make it worse too. We have tones of islamic immigrants in Canada including refugees (in fact my city is predominantly Muslim along with Sihks as well) and we have no such conflicts with their population as a whole

Granted in Europe with land access its not quite the same situation as u cant control screening as easily as to who comes in especially illegally so its not quite the same and of course some precautions are in order

However i still think there is too much polarization in xenophobia in much of Europe to refuggees including France

And as i said here in Canada Quebec is also the most anti muslim and they havent had such an issue with terrorist attacks either. Yet their culture is highly intolerant of such "outsiders"

Why is French culture so consistently hostile to different cultures?

In France they have been agressive against certain relugious wears that arent even harmful (remember video of woman at the beach and officers made her strip her headwear in front of everyone?)

Here in Canada Quebec is pushing for simmilar laws to ban anything of the sort in workplaces. Anything that isnt typical white culture neutral clothing is considered unacceptable

Like i understand banning burqa and stuff like that for safety reasons. But theres other stuff that literally doesnt have to affect anyone else plus a lot of these wears are also cultural too, many ppl who arent all that religious still wear some of these things cuz its CULTURAL

French culture is not only hostile/ unfriedly to Islamic cultures, but to other European nations as well. Many French are particularely hostile to gypsyes.

https://theconversation.com/why-are-roma-people-being-attacked-in-france-115030

Romania and Bulgaria are technically allowed to enter the Schenger area of the EU (which means no borders checkings between these countries and the other Schenger area countries), however, countries like France still want to delay this because don't want gypsies in their country (they want them to stay in the Balkan EU countries).

From Wikipedia

On 1 August 2018, Bulgaria and Romania gained full access to the Schengen Information System.[69] Moreover, "the final political decision whether the two countries can become part of the Schengen area and stop systematic border checks with neighbouring EU countries must be taken unanimously by all sides of the European Council."[68] On 11 December 2018, the European Parliament voted for the resolution in favour of accepting both countries, requiring the Council of the European Union to "act swiftly" on the matter.[

Besides that, many French people have a rivality and somehow hostile attitude towards the British and Germans (which is more known though :poot:). These are much milder compared with their altitudine towards gypsyes or Muslims obviously. Interestingly, France even has a border dispute with Italy regarding Mont Blanc but, again, neither country really cares.

I heard from a JW that in France once they tried to impose a rediculously high tax on their religion only and no one else (but was fought in Court and didnt go thru) tho i dont know the details of that

Regardless of what u think of religion or disagree with... dont cherry pick 1 or 2 individual ones like that to target :air:

I dont think Religions should be exempted from taxes but then apply it to everyone not just 1 or a few :rip:

I have nothing against the French overall, im employed by a Quebec company i love in fact. But when it comes to other cultures or ideas i think they need to work on being a lot more open. It doesnt mean u have to agree with them. But dont opress them either if they arent presenting a safety rik to others :deadbanana:

Im not saying theres never any grounds for caution. Of course terrorism is always a risk and some control and background checks or rejections of suspicious individuals or families is understandable. Im not saying they have to let everyone who asks in. My Country too accepts many refugees and muslim immigrants as well but it doesnt mean let in every person who tries

It's funny how everybody acts like it is a human right to be refugee in distant rich european country, when according to international law refugees should stay in closest safe country.

I'm not having fun tonight.

The French have established a cultural heritage program and since the mid-nineties have been doing everything in their power to ensure that their country does not devolve into a melting pot like you now see with much of London. They welcome refugees and do their part like every other dominant world nation but that doesn’t mean that they have to loose what makes them THEM. With all of the attacks from trying to mesh Islamic peoples within the culture of France and give them refuge, I would be hesitant to welcome more as well. As a nation they have watched people beheaded in cathedrals and stabbed in the streets over cultural clashes.

These countries that have helped displace these people should be the ones to help them now but they can only do so much while maintaining peace for their own citizens. It’s not hate or discrimination to not want to over run your own country with people who do not value or appreciate your own citizens way of life. I know that sounds incredibly harsh but war and politics are not fair to everyone.

This just reeks of ethnocentrism and a mix of hate and discrimination under the guise of "cultural heritage" or "saving" one's culture.

Newsflash that culture is dynamic and ever-evolving it never stays the same and is never stangnant.

Rather than trying to play this off as explaining, just be honest with yourself that the French (you?) don't want the "scary" Muslim people coming into your country and "taking it over"

Sounds like it's coming straight from Fox News or a Republican here in the US :smh:

Also, all the pearl clutching and rationalizing going on in here when France played its own role in all this, and trying to shift the blame to the refugees when it was the West who destabilized their countries and displaced them to begin with is just pure comedy.

If only it were satire but you people genuinely believe you're justified or correct to demonstrate your hate and discrimination :billie:

Control is one thing but this kind od language usualy also implies lack of support and that they dont really want the refugees coming in even if they end up accepting some

Good chance France will take in some but not be particularly accomodating or making their integration and set up into society a perticular priority. Very often thats what ends up happening when "control" is the first thing the government seems to be concerned about

Integration is not the (main) goal most of the times. The general policy seems sending refugees back to their home countries once the situation there is declared safe enough.

And thanks to the others in here educating and even informing me about the French and their attitudes.

Doesn't sound like a very great country to me.

Sounds like a very petty, hateful, hostile, and spiteful country, one I will not be visiting in the future as it doesn't deserve my time with those kinda attitudes and beliefs
