Album sales have really plummeted huh. I remember when multiple albums would be over 100k even SPS every week, now it'd be lucky for even ONE album to do that in a week.

LMAO no, it is all Lorde decision, because she decides she doesn't wanna sell CD anymore, but vinyl only. But not a lot of people want to buy vinyls, or afford to, so there's that.

And then, there are a lot of divisiveness from her fans over this new album. Some really hated it and some liking it. But boy, does the one who hated it are vocals about it and made everyone notices :poot:

As many have said, a factor for these sales is that billboard changed the rules and no longer allows bundles, for example if Gaga released chromatica with the current rules, her sales would also be much lower another factor is that she is only selling vinyl and not cd.

Considering she hasn't had a real hit since Team, is this a surprise? Also, who's going to buy an empty box just to get a download code? That obviously didn't work at all. She said she didn't want to be a popstar, and now she's gotten that.

The album is a disaster. Like what was she thinking. All the tracks sound half baked. After covid we don’t want half baked music. Is truly such a disappointment

they sound half baked to you

not everyone needs big production and lifeless woop woop woop songs

red wine, cheap perfume and a filthy pout

I love the album :vegas:

"Lorde says she has 'zero anxiety' about 'making less money' than she did earlier in her career"

https://www.insider.com/lorde-making-less-money-touring-album-sales-interview-2021-8

"I had this conversation with my manager," she continued. "I said, 'I have more money than I could ever spend in my life. I own a home. I own some lovely rugs and great furniture and can buy whatever I want at the grocery store. Like, we're good on money.'"

"It's exactly where I want to be," Lorde told The Wall Street Journal. "I would much rather have a room with 5,000 people in it who know every word to every song and are passionate about me as an institution — than have 18,000 people who heard two songs on the radio and liked them."

wait, this is such a vibe, power to her!!!

I like the album, but the problem is the 4 year break. The GP simply loses interests in artists very fast unless they constantly “stay relevant”.

Been a cuff touple, a puff bupple, a tough couple of years.

Oh please, I'm not making excuses for her. Not even talking about her in fact, but albums overall. I'm simply pointing out a general trend and FACT that we rarely see albums hit over 100k sales SPS in a week anymore.

Lucky to see even one do that on a given week.

Didn't they mention that billboard did not count the music box sales towards the final tally though? Also the box isn't empty, it has some artwork and a poster, which is probably more interesting to fans than just a cd they will probably never use.

Just a thought, I think that part of the reason there is such a big disconnect between Lorde and a lot of her fans with this album is because of the drastically different experience we've all had over the past five years. We lived in fear for four years with Trump in office and then as soon as that nightmare is ending, a literal pandemic happens and drastically changes most of our lives, leaving us prisoners of our own homes. Meanwhile, Lorde has literally been getting high by the beach in the tropical paradise that felt none of effects of the pandemic or the idea of nuclear war or getting her basic rights taking away. What I'm saying is, we're in different places mentally. We need music that makes us feel things; cathartic, dramatic, powerful music. At least I do anyway.

This!! Such a disconnect. I agree. The timing is wrong and I hope she learns from it. The album is not IT
