Why does Gaga almost never acknowledge current events?

I mean she dedicated her entire platform to fighting DADT, raising money for the Japan Fukushima tsunami, and countless other world and current events.

It's not as if those ones you mentioned are the only ones.

Also, she's under no obligation to speak up or about every single thing that happens.

So think about it like this: she has a platform with which she can vocalize her opinion on just about anything. However, opinions come with divisiveness and that shakes her platform giving her voice less impact. She shares her opinion on things that are less divisive generally (minus US politics of recent days) because she’s very mindful of rocking the boat too much. It’s not that she doesn’t care, it’s that she saves her opinions for things that won’t result in too much backlash. I’m sure she gets somewhat triggered and still has PTSD from the ARTPOP backlash. It might not be the same, but backlash still hurts.

Well let me tell you it was very disheartening when she completely ignored the beirut explosion which was one of the biggest and deadliest explosions in history, while other artists were donating, raising awareness or at least offering condolences. Political issues, I get staying aside, but not global disasters. If anyone doesn't like that, hope you never have to experience such a level of feeling like your lives don't matter.

So you seriously expected me to compile everything? Lmao I was able to name 6 off the top of my head and the OP clearly says she "never" addresses current events or uses her platform for anything. Her entire platform for almost her entire career has been dedicated to advancing LGBTQ rights, but pop off I guess.

I can certainly see your concern, but I think the need for celebrities to speak about every issue isn’t as ideal or necessary as it previously seemed.

I agree that celebrities shouldn't give their opinions on everything because they're not educated on everything. I think what she did last summer was so great because she gave her platform to a variety of different individuals and organisations who were educated on the matter. I just think she could do a bit more of that.

Well firstly it's not about her "oweing us her beliefs", its about her using her massive platform and power to help people and do good. And frankly the world has been VERY good to her, I would argue she does owe the world something in return.

But anyway, don't you think for someone who has talked constantly about how much she cares about the world, who uses "be kind" as branding on everything from makeup to oreos, helping certain causes should be more important to her than causing her some social media "issues"?

But that's what I'm saying. She's known as compassionate social justice queen, but she actually doesn't speak out on a lot of issues. What has she spoken about this entire year? Gay rights maybe with the BTW anniversary but she was literally making money off of that so it doesn't count...
