If you think that is a terrible thing to say, you have no chance to survive as a child in most Asian countries lol.

It’s crushing how normalized it is to just accept parental abuse. You’re laughing but you know that no degree of abuse is okay.

It's hilarious watching everyone jump to agreeing that this woman did not deserve to be looked after by her multi millionaire son just bc she told him to keep it real 🤣

To be fair, she could be a terrible mother or emotional abusive person. But for what we have known in this news, what she said was totally reasonable.

What do you expect your mother to say when you're failing hard in school for being distracted by your hobbies???

For me personally, my grandmother is a terrible person, and I would still help her, even more if i was a millionaire. I just cannot fathom not helping your family member unless they are psychos or something...

Exactly. I have family members who I barely like and I would still look after them if I became rich and if they were in need. As you say unless there is serious abuse/neglect going on I don't get the problem. You don't have to keep a relationship going if its too problematic. We don't know all the details but from what he said the reach to completely condemn her as a mother and person is really unfair. Even if you find her parenting to be toxic you still have to consider how she was raised and the generation she grew up in.

Well he doesn’t owe anyone anything no matter what. Not even his mom. Also his moms behavior sounds terrible. Parents really need to stop trying to kill their childrens dreams. It’s awful behavior.

This would be a better world if parents were more supportive of their children and their ambitions.

If you're not gonna help and encourage your children, then why having them in the first place?

It's not parental abuse to tell your kid that theyre not the most amazing person in the whole world. Look at X Factor and American Idol and how many parents pushed their kids on to be delusional and made into national laughing stocks. Sure she was proven wrong about Tarantino but I'm sure she's proud of what he's achieved.

Also some families just have that sarcastic, constantly shading banter between them. Those videos are always going viral and everyone loves it. According to many on this thread all those parents are abusive too. A damn mess!

Serial Chiller

Parents not believing in their children, what's the scandal? :enigma:

As long as they're not abusive.

I wouldn't call it parental abuse......, I can admit that it was not a very pleasant memory for my childhood and it did affect my mental condition a bit when I was younger.

But as an adult I can comprehend that they only wanted to keep me realistic but didn't know how to communicate better with their children, because they were raised in the generation that all the children needed to work since they were 6:ladyhaha:

They have changed a lot and been very supportive to me now, I hope yours can come around, too:hug:

Wow...

What? I said “I think”. I don’t think anyone would cut off their mother over one stupid comment. It must be deeper than this.

Uhhhhh why do you expect a child to understand sarcasm? It sounds like she was plainly emotionally abusive.
There’s no such thing as “idk if you don’t vibe with your kid you just don’t vibe!”

there needs to be full support and compassion.

Yes. I'm quite positive that if I heard my 9 Yr old niece singing and told her that my ears were bleeding she would laugh her ass off and then keep singing... The idea of it traumatising her for life is preposterous. We need to prepare kids for disappointment and rejection as much as to be confident. (if not more)

Well boohoo lets just all believe that this woman was a cruel and uncaring mother based off of one anecdote.

You don't know what his relationship with his mother is. He said that was the final straw which means she must have been cruel before. But sure, I guess you would pay for your mother's vacations after she put you down for years.

I actually know where he is coming from but you clearly lack any type of perspective.

Well don’t have kids queen because you’re pretty ill-suited for emotional tenderness it requires to raise someone who will be happy, confident and stable.

Shaney

None of us can really make assumptions about who was right in this situation. We don’t know the full story, is he just holding a grudge or if his mom was continuously abusive/neglectful towards him….
