FUNNY GIRL Broadway Revival is Aiming for April 2022 Lady Gaga to star?

The long-rumored Broadway revival of Funny Girl seems to finally be happening in 2022! According to an Equity casting call, the production is aiming to begin performances on April 2, 2022.

Funny Girl will be directed by Michael Mayer, with Michael Rafter serving Music Director. Choreography is by Ellenore Scott with Tap Choreography by Ayodele Casel. Casting is by Jim Carnahan.

According to the casting call, the roles of Fanny Brice and Nick Arnstein have already been cast, but all other roles are open at this time.

No information has been released on who has been cast in these roles, but there were previously rumors that Lady Gaga would take on the iconic role of Fanny.

April opening, just in time for tonys. I really hope the rumor turns out to be true. It would be the hottest ticket in town!!!

I wish! It'd be amazing and she's perfect for that role. I'm afraid people will start to say that she wants to imitate Barbra but who cares?

I highly doubt Gaga would do this - the media and GP would have a field day with this constantly putting Gaga and Barbra Streisand (who starred in the original funny girl and also the 70's iteration of 'A Star Is Born')  against each other like they did with Madonna. I just think it's a bit far fetch if i'm being completely honest. 

Wasn't she also rumoured to be starring in the broadway musical adaption of  "The Nanny" - I think that'd make a better fit tbh, I mean at the core of it all she's a street smart New Yorker right? it's perfect.

Can you imagine Gaga singing that on Broadway!!?? IM getting goosebumps just thinking about it.

Isn't that the same narrative some of y'all fans said when she launches her acting career as main role with ASIB, that it was impossible and the press will shreds her to bits?

honey, i didn't say that at all when it was announced she was starring in ASIB so i don't quite understand why you felt the reason to quote me. 

ALSO i'm not against her starring in Funny Girl, I just think it's obvious how the media works and they absolutely LOVE pitting women against each other. I mean look at what history has taught us??? that's literally all I was saying but go off i guess...

Hopefully either this or The Nanny rumor turns out to be true. She was born to be on broadway!

Also, I don't think anything disastrous is gonna happen even if the media starts pitting her against Barbra. They already have a great relationship with each other and I'm sure Barbra will be happy to know Gaga's gonna play the role (if it happens).
