She’s suing because it wasn’t released exclusively in theaters therefor leading to lower performance at the box office. If they had, more people would undoubtedly be exposed to covid.

If you’re not vaxxed at this point, it’s on you to be careful around the public, not the other way around.

It's not like Disney is sooo worried about the pandemic that their theme parks are still closed. Even the movie theatre inside Disney Springs is open.

It's a poor excuse that that user bought into.

That’s…that’s not even true. Most theaters have guidelines.

It’s not really about wealth it’s about being an artist and an actor.

Scarjo was shortchanged and her contract was breached.

Same with Emma.

They’re actresses who deserve the money they were PROMISED when these big corporations are making WAYYYY more than them.

I wonder how many covid infections Scarjo finds acceptable per extra million dollars on top of the 20 she already made from black widow.

Uh if you know your worth and do your end of a deal and expect to be paid fairly, would you be mad if they cheated you out?

This is MUCH bigger than Scarlett. This is a current industry problem as there is not standard legal definition that studios go by for streaming like they do for box office which means if your salary is tied to returns then you’re losing out while the studio exploits you and goes back on their end of the deal/twists it to short you your earnings. And think, if they’re willing to do this to one of the biggest names in Hollywood, imagine what they would do to nobodies? So no, it isn’t about Scarlett being rich. Yes, I’d love wealth redistribution, but this is about much more than her herself getting her bag. It’s about a changing industry and certain parties seeking to, once again, be labor abusers.

If they had renegotiated a fair deal with her like WB they could have avoided this problem. They chose not to. Yeah her salary is tied to BO earnings but they could have said look there’s a pandemic let’s sit down and hash out a new deal. They did not do that and here we are. They tried to pull the wool on actors. Not remotely surprised from Disney. Always be skeptical if you’re taking a corporation’s side, especially one as cruel as Disney.

I almost 100% can assure you they renegotiated with The Rock for the release of Jungle Cruise and they didn't do the same for Emma or Scarlet.

Let's see what Emily Blunt does after the release of Jungle Cruise.

This was an official message from the Office of the First Lady.

I'm sorry but this really isn't an accurate take. The issue isn't that it underperformed at the box office or the fact that wasnt just exclusively released in the theaters itself. The issue is that her pay is partly determined by box office revenue and was promised a theater exclusive release, when Disney announced they were releasing it on Disney+ at the same time her team tried to renegotiate her contract given the change in the release strategy which would affect her pay (because releasing it online is not considered box office revenue). Disney ignored her legal team, not bothering to give a response and released the movie anyway. The issue is that Disney is trying to use COVID as an excuse to purposely screw even their high profile actors out of money they shouldve been entitled to.

As far as I am aware, only the big names get backend deals. Disney absolutely should have renegotiated their contract to take streaming into account to act fair, but at the same time, we are talking about someone who already got 50 million dollars for one single movie amidst an unprecedented pandemic.

It's like Jennifer Lawrence demanding equal payment for women while she was making over 50 million a year. Like, these issues should get solved, but it's not like they will do anything for the people who really should be heared.

Don't think these issues should get as much attention as they do now.
