Yeah, also some British reviewers didn't like the movie.

Yeah they gave her her flowers but a lot of the British critics weren't crazy about the film...I defn. think people underestimate the royalist angle with BAFTA tho as a factor (I think she'll be nominated, but I wouldn't be shocked if she wasn't because of it...). A couple of years ago apparently there was some big tizzy over some actor or comedian not being 'respectful' enough to William.

With the SAG and Critics' Choice you can never tell. The BAFTA and Golden Globes are more predictable. I can see Gaga winning Comedy GG tbh.

Defn., That said, Chastain is apparently hustling like crazy....

also, i think sometimes races can be very unpredictable.

i remember when i was rooting for Jen and her part in American Hustle she won Golden Globe and BAFTA, but lost Oscar to Lupita tho! so everything's possible.

I mean she kinda has to

movie was a flop and came out in September, she'll be forgotten if she doesn't (same with Hudson)

Sort of off topic, but I feel like the general public doesn't care about metacritic when it comes to movies...(they don't even care that much about critics all the time, tbh). Rotten tomatoes, on the other hand...there's a reason studios use it in advertising...so let us hope it stays fresh

TBH as respected as she is...I doubt she would even be in the conversation if she wasn't hustling like crazy and didn't have the 'overdue' narrative. The film was mixed, a la HOG, and a giant financial flop. Not to mention, as you said, the buzz disappeared.

Is she attending in-person screenings like Gaga? I haven’t read anything about that though

I don't know about BAFTA, they got a committee deciding the acting categories

a lot of people thought Carey Mulligan would win there and she was weirdly not nominated even though they clearly loved her movie... Olivia wasn't nominated either!
