Omg, i gotta share this story... I just got back from the wine shop. When I was paying, the lady behind the counter complimented my bag (Gucci), and she was like, "I just saw that House of Gucci movie. You know with Lady Gaga?"

"Oh! I heard about that. How was it?" I asked.

"That girl is gonna get the Oscar," she replied.

"Oh, wow, I'll have to see it! I do like her," as I turned and left.

Finally got to see the movie last night!

I echo a lot of the criticisms that have been brought up before. It’s too long by about twenty minutes and is tonally inconsistent, undecided if it wants to be a legitimately tragic crime drama or a campier, more sensationalistic retelling of events. There are certainly missed opportunities to delve deeper, lengthy running time notwithstanding, but it’s a solid and entertaining piece as is.

The biggest takeaways are the astounding costume design and the compelling ensemble cast, particularly Gaga and Adam Driver. Gaga is very impressive as Patrizia Gucci, a woman so blinded by the desire to control what was never hers to control, rendering the motives to assassinate her husband as more complex than they might seem going in. While she seems to completely envelop herself in the role by the final act, there are multiple instances along the way where she seems to throw away a line or delivers it in a staccato, very American fashion. She didn't do this in A Star is Born, but it happens frequently here, and I wish Ridley pushed her to be a bit more specific in her characterization early on. That being said, Gaga proves yet again that she is on her way to becoming a really terrific actor, and I’m very proud of her work here.

Madam Margolyes

The way Being the Ricardos unexpectedly received mixed reviews, so now everyone starts to drop Nicole Kidman from their best actress predictions and puts Gaga even higher :billie:

Officially back to 60 on RT. We really lost.

What did we lose? Some thing that doesn't matter at all? Hey, it's still a great note of the movie. 😇😇

Sugar, spice, and everything nice.

I'm just being dramatic. Lol. I'm just bummed that it's fallen back to this score. It seemed like we were making some great traction last week.

Don't focus too much on it. The film is full on camp art and it's not a spoonfed plot and a story with a bow on it. It's messy and abrupt and long, but it's "a wild ride", just like Gaga said.

This may not appeal to a lot of reviewers or whatever, but this is a HUGE step in her legacy.

Every time I have my tea and clink my spoon against the mug, I wanna quote her :trollga:
