Wasn't it stated from the beginning that the vaccine only significantly lowers the chance of serious cases, but not rule out the possibility to still get it? I am not a saint or anything, I just want to keep everyone healthy as I could spread it as a vaccinated person. We are in this together — even with the ignorant among us. They are people too; and I’m not going to get cynical about them. Also just wished masking became normalized. I’d rather not breathe others’ germs and get sick. There are antibodies that are specific to our mucosal linings that are different than the ones that circulate in the blood. (IgA vs. IgG) Currently researchers are developing innovative ways to enhance the mucosal antibody response such as intranasal administration. Local administration of the vaccine in the future seems to be a viable route to curb the spread of other common respiratory viruses. Science will pull through as it always has. ceminay 1,122 Posted July 30, 2021 Share Posted July 30, 2021 Yes they can, BUT people keep forgetting that you have a 80-90% lower chance of getting infected in the first place compared to an unvaxxed person, so it’s not exactly the same. The vaccines are still amazing. Last year we were hoping for a vaccines that would protect us at least 50% from severe disease and look at what we got. If you’re vaxxed you’re safe and if you catch Covid, it will be more like a cold or flu. It was possible, but not likely.
