The “catholic” website had to come up with some way, and they said they “deanoynmized” his grindr data to do it. They win on multiple levels here. 1) they make people think grindr is unsafe with literally no proof 2) they work out whatever vendetta they have against this guy and 3) they don’t have to reveal which of their team members was trolling grindr and happened to hookup with this guy. Also religion stems from our deep discomfort of things unknown to us. We needed religion to give a reason to the questions of „Why?“ we had no answer for. And a shared belief system helped us staying connected and creating an ethical common ground as the groups we lived in started getting way bigger and complex. Religion could very well be the reason we are still here, so in general it is neither good or bad. It‘s all about the intention it‘s used with. And that is the problem with modern religion, it‘s used to promote hatred, injustice, disconnect and fear of the other, when it used to be based on love, compassion, companionship and everything being connected. I feel bad a gay man had to suppress who he really for most of his life because of the religious beliefs they were indoctrinated with.
