Gaga Now Holds Record for Fastest Song to Acheive 4 Billion Streams

Last week it became the highest streamed female song of all time, and this week Die With A Smile makes Gaga and Bruno Mars the fastest to achieve the 4 Billion milestone.

It’s also by an incredible landslide. The previous record holder, now second place, was As It Was by Harry Styles, which achieved the milestone at 1,260 days. This means Gaga and Bruno beat the record 495 days faster than the previous record holder which is algorithmically insane.

I am not sure if even Gaga or Bruno knew the juggernaut this song would become. It has become one of the biggest songs of the decade and probably will be of all time. According to current projections Blinding Lights has a very good head start, but Die With A Smile will most certainly become one of the Top 3 streamed songs ever on Spotify when it’s all said and done. A massive success. Well done Gaga!

Good for her! I hope it inflates the **** out of Mayhem just like all the other pop stars pull tricks. 
 

Gaga being so fair that it cost her a lot of recognition over the years did nothing. She is the most influential pop start post-2000 and the younger generations should know her impact. The sales should match that. Playing small all the time did nothing. I hope she does it on LG8 too. Lol

Another fun side fact that I realized: In Top Songs EVER on Spotify, DWAS was at #20 in April. By September it rose to #12. Thats an insane jump considering every song in the Top 50 are multi-billion bangers. We are talking MEGA HITS. And even crazier, with its current gains, its only 7M behind "I Wanna Be Yours" by Arctic Monkeys and 81M behind "STAY" by The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber. This means in the next few weeks it will break into the Top 10 Streamed Hits OF ALL TIME. Thats bigger than any Taylor Swift song, any Katy Perry song, any Britney Spears song, any Madonna song, any Billie Eilish song, any Ariana Grande song. And it might stay that way forever because the Top 10 is increasingly hard to crack now. This gives Gaga a permanent record in terms of being famous for being the only woman inside that A+++ category of songs. We are talking "September" by Earth, Wind, and Fire/ "Thriller" by Michael Jackson, "Hey Jude" by The Beatles, "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen levels of fame.

Yeah it updates only every 24 hours, but if you look on Kworb and see it's daily streams and what they have been at consistently for months, by this hour it certainly has gained the 300K it needed today to pass 4 billion. So yes, technically right now it definitely actually has 4B streams.

It also got me thinking how we celebrate that the song got “4 billion streams” - which is amazing - but it takes only Spotify into an account. Within all streamers, the song must’ve reached 10B at this point - would be interesting to see those numbers. 

Sometimes I think we give Spotify way too much importance - even in the US - Apple Music and Youtube Music are pretty popular too

It’s primarily down to the fact Apple Music doesn’t share stats like Spotify does. Plus Spotify is universally the more popular service, because you can use it for free.

Spotify's market share is 31.7% while the next popular is Tencent at 14.4%. It's not giving Spotify way too much importance, it has more than twice the marketing share of the next 2 biggest services.
