It's the only season that actually gave us any horror and made me have a few chills. 2 - Murder House - I love this season because there's a good story and it's well wrapped. 3 - Freakshow - I love the story, I love the freaks. It's not really horror, also the clown is a highlight of the show. Bottoms - 4 - Cult - It was a nice story, I like how it portrays the human psyque and how low people can go to survive. But meh! 5 - Coven - Not horror at all, just the cliche bitch witch with lots of brands clothing. Boring! 6 - Apocalypse - Started very well, then it became a MAJOR MESS. I just ranked it above the last because the beginning of the season was good. 7 - Hotel - The only thing to like about it was Lady Gaga. 8 - Asylum - I hate how overrated it is. There's no story, there's just fanservice. They simply added all the cliches about asylums with a little of supernatural elements. It's a mess, it barely makes any real sense. It was just made for Sarah Paulson to give a great performance. Pure trash aside Sarah Paulson's performance. No depth at all, just the same old fanservice for fanboys. BOOOOORING! I didn't watch 1984 because I am bored by AHS at this point. I rank everything according to the story that is told. Damn to hear someone drag Asylum is just I do agree, I really enjoyed the beginning of Apocalypse (ha), SP's character was iconic and then she also showed up as Cordelia Are you going to check out AHStories or season 10? I don't have FX on cable anymore and I don't know which streaming service has it. Also I am so over Ryan Murphy, all his work is very derivative, almost stolen from others. Even his acclaimed film "The Normal Heart" is a copy of one of my favorite movies of all time "Longtime Companion - 1990". I know his movie is based on an original play, but the way he filmed it was like watching a remake, the way he directed, the scenary... everything looks the same and the story is the same. His "The Boys In The Band" is just a copy of the original movie that no one remembered, he didn't add anything original to it. I am sick of Ryan Murphy profiting from copying things. And when he does original things, they are embarrassing, like his Hollywood minisseries for Netflix (like Rock Hudson dating a black guy? He was a racist piece of sh1t that would date only blond blue eyed guys in their 20's - I read his biography 15 years ago). The only good thing I liked from him was his American Crime Story: The People Against O.J. Simpson. I used to like his stuff like Popular and Nip/Tuck, but they aged like milk. It's very cringe to watch. I am authistic, so don't be offended if I make a mess sometimes.

Monsterclaw 500
This is going to be controversial but here we go 🤡 1.ASYLUM - Everything about this one is perfect And yes, that includes the aliens. I think that it was a cool idea to left some unanswered questions about them cause it fit the ominous and mysterious vibe they had and it also fit the season taking place in the 60s. The characters, the atmosphere, the psychological terror and the twists were amazing and its really sad that they dont take themself as seriously as they did back then. Also, it was truly horrific. 2.ROANOKE - Shoot me, arrest me, I dont care but I Love this one. I think the story is good, the setting is different and I enjoy this format - is fresh and original. It was also scary, although the gore was a bit too much sometimes. Also i know that Sarah Paulson hated doing that season and her character but I do love me some Audrey Tindall, she was a great comedic relief. 3.CULT - I think thats the only season that have tried to emulate the psychological horror of Asylum. The story is very good, although sometimes a bit too heavy handed with politics. It was very dark but had some great campy moments that felt(for the most part) natural and not forced. I also believe that people hate on it only because it is trendy to hate on it and I also think it was the last truly creative season. 4.FREAKSHOW/MURDER HOUSE - Its a tie for me. Freakshow holds a sentimental value for me because thats the season that got me into AHS. Twisty is probably the most horrific thing to come out of the show, although the rest of the season wasnt that scary. It had some psychological horror but it felt campy at the same time but I think they balanced it well. It was also the saddest season( I cried multiple times throughout). Murder House is a classic - i love the characters( for the most part) and the premise, although just like Freakshow, it drags for a little to long and it loses its horror aspect halfway through. The only thing that I dont like about this season is that they keep coming back to that house( Apocalypse, Stories) and it feels basic and uninspired. 5.COVEN - a fun season with some of the most memorable characters. I love the fashion and the overall vibe.I do think its VASTLY overrated and it led to the abomination called Apocalypse, only because some twinks were like ,, yaaas, so sassy, slay bitch” and even though i am a twink myself and i love some campy elements in a horror show, I also want to be scared And besides some disturbing gore I didnt feel that watching Coven. Love Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Emma Roberts And Jessica in it. 6.1984 - A fun season. I live for the homage to 80s horror flicks, the aesthetics were on point, same goes for music. I wish they did more with the premise though. Also i hate that they had to throw in ghosts again. Like please stop. I also think that the use of Richard Ramirez as a character was gross and in very poor taste. 7. Hotel - Loved The Countess, i genuinely think that Gaga did an amazing job, although i felt like they focused on the vampire plot a little too much. It is based after Hotel Cecil and although i live for the visuals and music, I think they could have gone in a more gritty, dark and claustrophobic direction. It was very opulent. I also think that the story felt apart due to one too many subplots and the finale was laughably bad, deffo the worst concluding episode of the series. It just got too campy, even though it seemed terryfying at first and then they just threw in a lot of gore sort of to make up for lack of actual horror. 8.apocalypse - pure trash. Just trash. K bye Cant wait for Stories And Double Feature
Panchecco 17,626
#1 Asylum: The setting, themes and acting are excellent. The only season that actually scared me. I'm still obsessed with Lily Rabe and her brilliant portrayal of Sister Mary. Sarah and Jessica also delivered their best performances in the series. I loved the secondary plot with Kit and the abductions. #2 Coven: I remember not liking this season very much at the time mainly because it felt so different from the first two seasons. Looking back Coven is truly one of the most interesting and enjoyable seasons and I love to rewatch it. Misty and Myrtle Snow are my favorite characters. #3 Hotel: I started dreaming about Gaga joining the cast when I first watched Asylum and I was not disappointed when it happened. The Countess is a great character that connects pretty much all the characters and Gaga truly shines in this role. The set is magnificent and I believe it could be considered as a character. The main problem with Hotel is the lack of interesting story, the "10 Commandments Killer" was supposed to be the main plot but it was predictable and it kind of dragged the season in a bad way. #4 Freak Show: I remember being so hyped about this theme, the setting and the characters. I loved this season and how melancholic and sad it felt. I remember being very frustrated with how they used Twisty, such a wasted opportunity. The ending felt very emotional and overall the season is very well done in my opinion. #5 Murder House: The first season is probably the best written season and the most interesting. Truly a masterpiece that kept the viewer glued to the screen for the entire duration. What this season lacks is probably a larger scope which isn't necessarily a bad thing: the fact that the story is very concentrated didn't allow messy secondary plots (Hotel, Freak Show) but I feel they kind of tested the audience and created a bigger and more daring show with Asylum. Moira is portrayed so well by both Alexandra and Frances and is my favorite character from the season. #6 Roanoke: Roanoke is the most frustrating and disappointing season for me. I loved the marketing strategy before the premiere because it allowed fans to theorize and guess the theme and when the season started I was truly amazed at how good it was. I loved the premise of the mockumentary and I absolutely adored the visuals. If it were for the first half of the season, Roanoke would be my favorite but the "twist" mid-season truly ruined my experience. I thought the season kept re-peating itself in a very boring and predictable way and the big brother-esque second half ruined the show. Great idea and potential, terrible execution. #7 Apocalypse: When Ryan first announced that he planned on connecting every season I was very excited and when Pepper and Sister Mary appeared in Freak Show I was truly happy about the idea of a bigger universe. After that small connection everything fell apart for me, especially in Apocalypse where the whole show felt like a "part two" for Coven with a fun trip to the Murder House. The apocalypse theme and the idea of the bunker in my opinion didn't need the anti-christ storyline. Some of the characters and secondary storylines completly ruined the season for me, especially Evan and Billy's character. The witches were the strongest and most interesting elements of the season but that's only because Coven and its characters were so good to begin with. #8 Cult: This was the first season of AHS that didn't feel like AHS to me. Overall it's not terrible but the lack of supernatural/magical elements simply made it feel unlike AHS. The worst thing about the season is the introduction of not-so-great new cast members and their not-at-all-great characters. #9 1984: At this point I stopped considering AHS my favorite show and decided to watch it just out of curiosity. I still believe that most of the new cast members didn't help the show but the story wasn't good to begin with so it's just not a good season. This felt more like Scream Queens and doesn't really fit well with the rest of the seasons. Overall I love this show and the willingness to always try and make something different. I am kind of excited to see Double Feature, I'm not having huge expectation but I'm very happy to see Sarah, Kathy, Evan and Lily back.

tyler k 5,330
Asylum Murder House Roanoke Hotel Cult 1984 Coven Freak Show Apocalypse Asylum is one of the best seasons of any TV show, period. I remember being in love with it while it was airing and everyone was hating on it. I love everything about this season, including the aliens. Murder House is a classic and always will be. Roanoke is so polarizing and I understand why, but I personally love the storytelling, the concept was really cool. The hype leading up was damn fun- I very clearly remember the TV spot that had Perfect Illusion playing and had consolidated all of the previous ?6 promos into one and it was EPIC. It's actually scary, gory as hell, and has some of the darkest comedy in all of AHS. I revisit season 6 probably the most. Hotel's writing is pretty bad (the 10 Commandments Killer reveal? lmaoo) but I lovee everything else about it, the glamor, the style, the scenery, GAGA, and Mr. March is one of my fave EP characters. Cult is one of the more tightly written and cohesive seasons, sure the first 3 episodes are a bit much but once the story starts to peel back layers upon layers... it got to me. I love classic slasher movies so I actually really enjoyed 1984, I just wish they would've actually solved the problem of ghosts being stuck to locations, it's getting a little old. Coven is fun as hell but the writing is atrocious lol. Death means nothing and therefore the steaks were always so low for me, it gets boring in the middle and is just okay by the end, it's just bitchy and dramatic and the witch hunters? lol. Freak Show is the most disappointing season for me. I love the visuals, characters, colors, but the storytelling and writing is just so bad I can't get past it. I hate the ending, worst ending in the series for me. Apocalypse? 1/10, I see no reason to revisit this one. I'm tired of the contrived season to season connections. Keep it subtle and purposeful. Also fu*k this ending bc it negates everything that happened at the MH in episode 6. mmmy name ~isn't~ aliceee

Roanoke was the last season I really enjoyed. Which is sad because that was 4 seasons ago
