I already turned Dolby Atmos off.

Team Lossless :giggle:

Even Lossless isn't full lossless unless you have a wired auxiliary pair of headphones...

Agree to disagree.

You don't hear some drops being flat? Or the volume of the instrumental going up and down? The missing instruments/vocals? Some main vocals being quieter than accent instruments? The voices moving left and right without any logic? I wish I could post some audio examples because to me it's so obvious..

The audio moving left and right I believe is how the Spatial Audio is designed to work.

Some drops feel flat, mainly in Alice, Free Woman, Sine From Above, Sour Candy and Babylon (which is by far the worst sounding one in Dolby Atmos).

I’m also convinced that a true set of speakers with Dolby Atmos would sound better than the AirPods Pro. Someone on YouTube I believe uploaded the Dolby Atmos version of each song. To me personally, Rain On Me, Enigma, 1000 Doves, Fun Tonight and 911 got the better treatment with the mixes.

It’s not just Chromatica though; this morning “What’s My Age Again?” by Blink 182 came on and I didn’t realize some of their songs got the upgrades. That s*** was proof to your point that whoever mixed these songs needs to get a new hobby because it sounded horrible.

Overall, I will say kudos to Apple for trying but they should have maybe waited because even Lossless isn’t true Lossless considering how the options serve as a placebo effect unless your phone is wired in :-(

Chromatica in Dolby sounds good to me, some songs by other artists sound awkward in Dolby... Go listen to the song "Be Alright" by Ariana Grande in Atmos... Everything sounds super off & pitchy on that one.

I have a couple of HomePods in Stereo Pair mode. Dolby sounds better with those, but not as good as when I hooked my phone into the 5.1 Dolby surround speakers -- which I can never have too loud, because everyone lives so close to one another in Japan -- and everything was fairly well balanced. Chromatica, and other remasters included.

The key problem here is that two "speakers" are trying to act like many more. So some things will sound flatter than expected, it's a trade-off for sure though. Lossless is ALAC/FLAC, so nothing's technically being lost in compression, but Bluetooth is limited in total bandwidth so some will be lost.

If you really wanna hear a difference, add a 128kbps track to your iPhone and then play a Lossless track :laughga:

Yeah the yelps are gone… it’s so noticeable it throws the whole song off… it’s like they’ve straight™️ened the album

It seemed to take away stems and layers from the music to focus more on heavy reverbed lead vocals...idk

Born This Way (song) sounded horrible with Dolby Atmos. I hope who ever did that got fired.

I'm going to say yes because I've tried Atmos on AirPods, 5.1 channel Sonos speakers, and 5.1 channel Bang & Olufsen headphones and I completely agree. The mix is interesting sometimes because certain elements that aren't directly apparent in stereo come to the forefront, but the overall emphasis in the engineering of the Atmos version feels like it's almost in direct opposition to the production choices made by Gaga's team. Not a fan.

I own the Sonos sound system which is compatible with Atmos and I still find that the songs do sound awkward.

I am not a fan of dolby atmos versions of most albums, except for some few rando songs. I turned it off on my phone, but it adds like 20 seconds to the end of songs, but that could be because I am running the beta though.
