I live in Tijuana, Baja California (México), a peninsula bordering San Diego, California, and they say that when that earthquake happens (The Big One), my state (and Baja California Sur) will fall off the map and become an island   It's a story I've been hearing since I was a kid.

imma be in this frigid ass water all day tho. As a southern boy, I’m offended that I moved up up here to escape the heat (mostly the conservatives) and it found me. On the flip side, all the damn water in the PNW is way too damn cold to get in with the average 80° summer weather

So far where i live weve avoided the very extreme heat waves (there was just 1 full week of consistently over 30C weather  and 35C+ humidex) but definitely on the West side of American continent its been insane

 

So glad my work are considering getting us AC despite high cost

Humidity will play a huge factor here. People from areas with dry heat love to say 100+ is normal and tolerable, but in a place as humid as Washington state it will not be. I live in Key West and it’s normally in the 90s in summer, areas with dry heat like Texas are easily 100+. There is a huge difference, tho, at least for living things feeling the heat. The humidity here makes it almost hard to breathe that the air is so hot, and makes the RealFeel of 80 actually more like 100 but more unbearable

Thank god we don't have that kind of heatwaves here in Finland. Earlier this week we had a heatwave with temperatures up to 31-33c, and that feels like a nightmare already to me.

I know. It's terrifying. The fact that climate deniers still exist and that profit and comfort is more important than the future of the planet is mind-boggling to me. I expect people won't start paying attention until something massive happens like a big city getting submerged or something. It's sad, really.

Actually, Washington doesn’t feel the humidity like the east coast does. Almost the entire west coast has low dew points, which means we feel the humidity less.
