I like them both... not really sure where the strange bitterness is coming from? There's no need to be better than anyone else.

Well, Meryl — left arm forward — is a living — right arm forward — legend, although — both arms forward — I understand where she is coming from, — surprise Pikachu face — since Hollywood isn't the most — dislocates both arms — inclusive industry.

Former First Lady of the United States. Now card-carrying member of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

I get what she’s saying.I agree with the first bit.

There are so many actresses who don’t nearly get enough recognition for their work and those ones she listed are the ones that come to mind. Viola Davis has even talked about this.

However, the second half where she said she is better than Meryl was a little immature and unnecessary. Sharon can play the villain role REALLY well. However, I think Meryl is a great actress and her work should not be knocked down and both of them are talented.

I agree with her but I think she could have phrased it better because she seems bitter. Saying Meryl wouldn't have done a good job in the movies she was a part of sounds... shady.

Def not ‘suddenly coming’ for anyone. She just gave an interview where she shared her thoughts, and she spilled too. There is always just one women on top, society has made it that way, especially in spaces like these where most of these people are up for the same jobs.

 Why should Meryl just get to stomp around like a giant while the rest of us try not to get smushed under her big feet? Sharon is just as cute as Meryl, right? Sharon is just as smart as Meryl, people totally like Sharon just as much as they like Meryl, and when did it become okay for one person to be the boss of everybody because that's not what Hollywood is about! We should totally just STAB MERYL!

Not the bore worms!

This reminds me of my older family members starting a fight in facebook with other people they knew 30 years ago and they start going at it in the comments for all their children, grandchildren and other friends to see.

:ladyhaha::ladyhaha:

There is a point when you are older that you dont give an f anymore what other people think and you just say ubfiltered stuff.

Omg, but a mean girls type film with these iconic women, I would die.

Meryl changed many aspects of acting and how it was critiqued. If you look up old reviews, some of the biggest critics despised any character choice she made. They would basically say that she would become too enveloped in the characters and lose Meryl. She was “too technical” and that every choice was too thought out and planned.

I’m saying this because it puts in perspective how much of a force she became over the decades. Hollywood was so accustomed to the stars of the day right before she came up- Joan Crawford, Elizabeth Taylor, Katherine Hepburn, Bette Davis. All wonderful actresses, but so distinct in the fact when they play a role theres some slight ways of acting that would connect the actress to all her work. The critics hated that Meryl totally abandoned that notion and became someone new every time. Seems silly now in 2021 to critique an actor for becoming TOO much like the character- because it’s legit the way to rank as the best now.

Sharon was becoming more well known when Meryl was at her most famous (as in people were trying to make her style a winning formula) so of course she’s been badgered about this her whole career. I would describe it more of an annoyance to her, rather than being bitter. She still commends her acting. But there should be as much room for “the best actresses of our time” as the men get with actors. That’s really her point.

Love that! Meryl was never dragged enough for her friendship with Weinstein, calling him "her god" in an acceptance speech
