Kanye West travel to UK blocked by government, Wireless Festival cancelled

The rapper made an application to travel to the UK yesterday via an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA).

It said the decision to refuse permission was made on the grounds that his presence would not be conducive to the public good.

For almost half a decade, West has caused outrage for a string of antisemitic, racist and pro-Nazi comments.

The festival has been cancelled now. 

 

The organisers say: "The Home Office has withdrawn Ye's ETA [permission to enter], denying him entry into the United Kingdom. As a result, Wireless Festival is cancelled and refunds will be issued to all ticket-holders"

The first posts I’ve already seen online are either antisemitic, calling the UK racist or saying we’re gonna lose “so much economy” from cancelling the festival. All of which is a lie.

It's ludicrous that people are shocked about this when being a Nazi is quite literally the worst thing you can possibly be in most of Europe. There's a reason even the hateful, racist European far-right always pushes back on being called Nazis.
