Bitch this trailer made me cry so hard because this is what happens to us. I could be the kid that killed himself. I’m glad I didn’t, but this hits me.

P.S. I get that it's important to show the reality of what a lot of gay people go through, but I'm really sick of higher budget gay movies/TV shows absolutely torturing their gay characters.

Like yes, our existence can really suck, but it would also be nice to see us portrayed as just regular people for once. And probably healthier tbh for young gays to see themselves on screen as regular people instead of bullied, degraded, depressed, or dead

Statistically the percentage of happy ending or normalized gay films have been rising all those years, which means that film industry has been going forward like the movement does.

We need those films that show struggle even though it seems like some places look friendly to gay people. America might already have gay marriage but you know how homophobic people still are in certain places, and let alone the real homophobic countries like middle east or east Asia.

A quote from Will and Grace where Will told the young gay:

You guys can't never forget the struggle who came before you, the people that fought and loved and died, so that you can walk down the street with skinny jeans with rights you never knew you never had. The minute we forget what we went through to get here is the minute it could all be taken away. And that's the night the light went out in Georgia.

Seems lame. Why is it a story about the parents who didn't accept their late son? There's nothing beautifully apologetic about this lol. Yet another instance where cis people victimize themselves in the stories of LGBTQ+ people, as if it is ever about them.

Gross really.

Hollywood likes some black trauma, some queer trauma, some mental health p*rn...let's all turn the tv off and go to indie movies made by the communities they strive to represent

it's a true story of a father who decided to walk across America to raise awareness about his gay son's suicide due to bullying

This this this! I'm tired of seeing the cliche movies of people getting HIV/AIDS, dying, or finding love but for whatever reason can't be together, religious persecution, feeling the need to announce a coming out to family or friends in school, etc

Can't we have one where a character just HAPPENS to be LGBT but just lives a normal life?...im over it

This is why I honestly hate watching LGBT films...

WORD. I finally came to terms with my bisexuality. I always knew i was i just wasnt ready to accept. And i was and still am scared because lgbtq community is always portrayed as either sad/depressed or the stereotypical portrayal of being ‘loud, feminine’ etc. They can have and they often do have very normal lives.

I hope the exit is joyful and i hope never to return.

U know i feel like. Like its my opinion that u dont even need to come out. If u want to go ahead. Nothing wrong with it. But coming out is made such a big deal. Not everyone is comfortable with it. Its a whole mess

Being "about" an individual person isn't really how life works.

Everyone is the main character in their own life and a side character to others. Life experience is as much about person a as it is person b.
