I hate it. It ****s up the discographies and you have to type 100 different names when you search for their music.

Best examples: Kesha and Natalia Kills.

But Kesha has always been Kesha. The only thing that changed was the $ for an S :bear:

I think it’s annoying. I can understand changing it once when you are starting out and figuring out what you are doing. But Natalia kills did it way too much.

Marina and Marina and the Diamonds. I think on Apple Music there’s two accounts but Marina’s account also includes her Marina and the Diamonds discography.

But most online stores have her CDs under both names. Hert first 2 with $ and the rest without. Tragic.

In the sense of artistry, I understand changing it because we grow/evolve, etc.

BUT when Dixie Chicks changed their name to The Chicks, or Lady Antebellum changed their name to Lady A...... that sh*t was tacky as F*CK. :saladga: If people want to accuse them of being racist, they should just honor that instead of trying to backtrack just so they can appease a group of people. You obviously chose those names for a reason? :awkney:

Also - I don’t think Ke$ha dropping the $ from her name was that bad though. It’s not that much of an identity change.

I mean I get why Kesha changed it considering she went by Ke$ha when she was working with her abuser. I think the same happened with Marina & the Diamonds changing to MARINA as she also used to work with Dr. Luke. Natalia Kills probaly felt like she had to change her name after The X Factor controversy. I get that it's a little annoying, but try to imagine it from their perspective.

It used to bother me but I've come to appreciate that no matter what their name, if you truly like the human being behind the stage persona, they will always be the same person to you and it doesn't matter.

While I wasn't against Gaga being credited as Stefani for her acting roles (as it was rumoured to be the case), I'm glad she stuck with Lady Gaga. I think the argument was that she would be taken more seriously as an actress if she was referred to as Stefani but the fact that an "unconventional" name like Lady Gaga (in the acting industry at least) can be recognised three times at the Academy Awards just shows how genuine her talent is, and how it wouldn't affect public perceptions of her outside of music.
