Being realistic, after MTN underperformed with all that promo, no other song from the album would have smashed.

I could see Scheiße doing good in summer 2011 tho.

Marry The Night still is probably one of the best pop songs ever regardless if it did well or not.

The best song on the album, HML, would’ve done great as a single to close off the era.

A MESS

i think bloody mary would have sound too haunting, while heavy metal lover being bassy but at the same time more catchy (i don't know what i'm saying). yet i know they would have flopped so hard with the GP...

Radio Ga Ga

She was too ahead of her time

HML would not even enter the charts in 2011 but if she released it 2020 or now that would’ve been her ray of light/mimi/circus moment :flutter:

Bloody Mary would have been the better choice imo. Perfect to release around October given the contents of the song.

Bloody Mary wouldn’t work on the radio.......at least in the U.S.? It’s such an amazing song though.

HML would’ve been an INTERESTING single; hearing that song on the radio - something completely different and “strange” coming from a mainstream artist - would’ve been such an immaculate experience. I don’t necessarily see it as a smash, though... but definitely it would get some eyebrow raises!

Either way, Scheiße should’ve been a HIT. If only it didn’t have the faux German (which I LOVE ). At the end of the day, it’s a fan-favorite and all three of these songs are absolute relics in Gaga’s discography. So I’m not mad that these songs are “just for us”.

Tbh at the time I don’t see any of them smashing. Maybe Scheisse?

I prefer Heavy Metal Lover but I feel like Bloody Mary is more radio friendly

holy scheisse

Dance in the dark + monster :lolly:

Btwn those two Idk if either would be big. I think the Jesus talk would've turned basics off from bloody Mary, and the unintelligible lyrics (bridge esp) of hml would've turned off basics as well

From btw, I think Hair could've been big. It was very teog which was a hit.

By mid 2011, Gaga’s popularity was drastically dwindling. If you supported her, people assumed you were gay. That alienated so many people.

Yoü And I did decent, only in the US and Canada though, as that style of music has always had relevance there. Any release after that was doomed to “flop” as the saying goes.

HML would have been better out of the two but I don’t think either would have performed very well. Theyre very underground pop-sounding tracks which I love but that’s typically not great for radio

Tbh Scheiße was the only song that could’ve possibly smashed. HML and Hair were good choices too, but at that point she wasn’t “cool” to like because she was alienating the GP.

I think HML was going to be the next single and it was sent to radio for like a day (it was going to have an impact date and everything) and then MTN bombed so hard that Interscope just scrapped the era. Her NYE performance was kinda bad and she really can’t sing that song live. You could tell she felt defeated especially going into the Grammys the following month.
