Peaked at #8 in the UK and #54 in the US, which is not that bad but I was definitely expecting it to be more successful. 2020 was the year of female collabs (ROM, WAP, Say So, Savage...) yet Prisoner was the only one that didn't go number one I love this song and their voices on it but the video just doesn’t have any replay value imo. Endgame surprised me because it’s one of my favorites from Reputation, but I think by then Taylor was just too overexposed and the drama in her personal life was stealing attention from the songs. Not a colab, but I think Delicate suffered from this as well. I’ll keep looking for Wonderland
Dr Fudge 8,635
Honestly Video Phone. I’m not even that big of a fan of the song, but both Beyoncé and Gaga were at career heights when it came out. Surprising it didn’t explode like Telephone. Goes to show artists don’t necessarily make for the commercial success of a song. Been a cuff touple, a puff bupple, a tough couple of years. Goes to show artists don’t necessarily make for the commercial success of a song. I think it's partly to do with the fact that it wasn't properly promoted and never performed live. It was also a very weird song that is a very niche sound. You can't bop to it and some of the lyrics are odd, especially Gaga's ("you're my phone star" huh???). Also, Beyonce had released a ton of singles from that album by this time and this was at the tail end when no one cared anymore. This is also one of those rare cases where the quality of the song was at play because when the same two artists collabed a year later on another song involving phones, it was a smash. I mean, I don't like Telephone either, but I'll take it over Video Phone any day.
